How some of the challenges arising from using digital evidence can be addressed using the Leiden Guidelines.
Was fab to work on this collab with @SabrinaRewald and @heiro1971

@aptaclubuk Then I would urge you to provide an inclusive and safe environment for parents to ask questions. This involves a thorough rethink of your customer service interactions
Had a lovely *cough*sarcasm* experience with @aptaclubuk customer service today. I had a simple question about their products, but before I could ask it, the chatbot treated me to a full serving of MUM-GUILT about my feeding choices. Thanks, that's exactly what I needed today ๐
@aptaclubuk There is ample information on your website and packaging to meet your legal obligations. Making access to info contingent on receiving a shaming and patronising message, that goes far beyond stating that breastmilk gives babies the best start, is inappropriate and unnecessary
@aptaclubuk Thank you for the detailed response. Reg 17 pertains to labelling and 21 to advertising. Neither requires that access to info through customer service be made dependent on the message that I was shown.
@aptaclubuk I'd prefer to have this conversation in the open. Shame exists in the shadows and in silence. I would encourage you to publish your policies on this issue so that the public can see them and question them.
@aptaclubuk If that's the case, change the automated response. Customers need to be able to access info w/out having to go through that horrible experience each time they use the chat. There is no sensitivity for how triggering that text is for many mothers who had agonising feeding journies
@aptaclubuk "I'm very sorry this has upset you" is another way of saying "I'm sorry you feel that way". That pushes the responsibility for my reaction away from @aptaclubuk 's poor policies and onto me. I strongly suggest your company revisits their customer service script
@aptaclubuk Hi Alice. What is best for babies is to be fed. Let's change the narrative here: 'fed is best, and what works for your family is what's best'. Breastfeeding is one way to accomplish that, formula is another, and mixed is another.
and let's not even get into how patronising it is to be telling mothers how to eat or the assumption off the bat that we will feed our children inappropriately and dangerously. I'll leave that for another day.
I just had a simple question for your customer service rep. I would appreciate being able to access information about your products without having to go through this shame-fest.
Hey there @easyjet - I paid extra (a lot extra) to have a separate seat for my 8 month old son. Your system has allocated him a seat on the other end of the plane and now your customer service wants to charge me to move him. There are multiple available seats on my row.
