THIS! The attack of science and healthcare has already been too much to handle. This is adding insult to injury. The Surgeon General needs to be a competent, licensed, board certified physician! Iโve written to my senators to oppose the nomination. Will you?
Many of my Republican colleagues champion โmeritโ - meeting basic standards for a job.
The Surgeon General MUST be a member of the USPHS Commissioned Corps. To serve as a physician in the Corps, you MUST hold an active medical license.
I -and every prior SG- was held to that standard.
If the administration lowers (or creates a back door around) those standards, and the Senate confirms Casey Means (who has let her license go inactive and didn't complete residency), they undermine every argument they've made about merit, standards, and opposing โDEIโ shortcuts. ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
NEMSQA develops evidence-based quality measures that improve patient outcomes and support EMS professionals. Better collaboration leads to better care.
A snapshot from last weekโs NEMSQA Board of Directors meeting, with members of the H&H EMS Solutions team joining the conversation. Productive time connecting, sharing perspective, and continuing the work of supporting EMS quality.
Big News! NEMSQA has partnered with H&H EMS Solutions to expand our capacity and better support EMS quality improvement. Our mission and member focus remain the same.
The ACIP decision to discontinue the recommendation for a universal hepatitis B birth dose vaccine will cause harm.
As the federal government continues to fail children's health, families can rely on our nation's physicians to continue to put children's health first.
Decisions have consequences, sir. As a physician, you know this already. Donโt pretend to be surprised by this THEY TOLD YOU THIS WAS THE PLAN FROM
THE START!
As a liver doctor who has treated patients with hepatitis B for decades, this change to the vaccine schedule is a mistake. The hepatitis B vaccine is safe and effective. The birth dose is a recommendation, NOT a mandate.
Before the birth dose was recommended, 20,000 newborns a year were infected with hepatitis B. Now, itโs fewer than 20. Ending the recommendation for newborns makes it more likely the number of cases will begin to increase again. This makes America sicker.
Acting CDC Director OโNeill should not sign these new recommendations and instead retain the current, evidence-based approach.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday was sympathetic to a group of faith-based pregnancy centers in their quest to challenge New Jerseyโs demand for information about the groupโs fundraising practices in federal court.
