As I’ve met with small business owners during my campaign for mayor and since I’ve entered office, I’ve heard one thing over and over: it takes way too long to get a permit in Jacksonville. I am proud to announce we are taking a big step towards streamlining the permitting process with the official launch of JAXEPICS - short for Jax Enterprise Permitting, Inspections, and Compliance System. This new system makes it easier for businesses, contractors, and residents to submit permit applications and upload the necessary documents from any computer or mobile device. With this innovative system in place, we’re also adding to our current staff so we have more people reviewing permit applications. One of the exciting parts about this project is that we developed it with our very own talented development team, saving millions in taxpayer dollars in the process. A Tornado Watch is in effect for Duval County until 6 p.m. this evening. This means conditions are favorable for tornadic activity in our area. Please ensure you identify your safe space and have a way to receive severe weather alerts as this system approaches.
#JSO, along with the #COJ and the #NWS continue to monitor the approaching weather.
Remember, bridges may close as the storm intensifies. But only as a direct result of the weather - and only when the storm winds would make it unsafe for travel. Also, if necessary, bridges would close individually on an as needed basis - and re-open in the same manner.
We will continue to update the community throughout the day. Stay tuned here for more, or ALERTJAX notifications at https://t.co/e6LnPeHDWt.
