EXTREMAG’s gas flow cryostat for optically-detected time-domain ferromagnetic resonance at low temperature is now operational! First user experiments featured sub-nanosecond pulsed magnetic field excitation of spin valves using the bespoke coplanar waveguide sample holder.
In Spring 2022 EXTREMAG welcomed its first users of our all-optical, ultrafast pump-probe experiment at low temperature and high field using the Spectromag 10 T superconducting magnet. First results look great and we look forward to welcoming more users of this instrument.
It has been an exciting week in EXTREMAG testing the 5 Tesla superconducting magnet for use with our all-optical pump-probe laser beam scanning microscope. Looking forward to low temperature, high field, and high resolution imaging of magnetic materials on ultrafast timescales!

An exciting week in @EXTREMAG1@UoE_Physics working with @OxInst to install a Spectromag SM4000 superconducting magnet. The inherited 18 year old system is now fully revived with up to 10 Tesla magnetic field and base temperature <1.4 Kelvin confirmed. @UofE_Research@EPSRC

This week we have been excited to receive a superconducting magnet for low temperature, high magnetic field optical pump-probe and THz spectroscopy in @EXTREMAG1@UoE_Physics
