Aficionado of Namecoin NFTs: Eggs, Blockheads, Manga & Monegraphs. Permanent Member of EggsDAO; Custodian to Quantum (first NFT ever minted) #ChompTheBIT
Debuting a new avatar showcasing one of the rarest Blockheads in my possession, "Poon" registered on July 25th, 2014.
Blockheads were THE precursor to Cryptopunks minted on Namecoin between 2014-2015...all the best NFTs originated there.
You guys have no freakin' idea.
...soon
This thread is pearl clutching and envy. The reality is: NAKA is building an all-star team, the salaries are reasonable, the bonuses are performance-driven and aligned with shareholders.
Never would I have believed five years ago that I would be attacked, smeared and harassed by Adam Back, Shinobi, MrHodl and others for publishing a fully sourced investigation article about Bitcoin Core governance.
It doesn't quite feel compatible with the whole "don't trust, verify" and decentralization mantras.
It really is an unbelievable state of affairs. Appeals to authority, shaming, ad hominems, smears.... Zero engagement with the imo shocking revelations of the articles.
@Vladcostea But why?
Whats GAINED by not being merge-mined? The one thing I can think of is by not being MM one gets a TRUE signal of miner confidence in the ability to profit from mining the coin; essentially confidence that the value of the coin wont abruptly drop in value
Anything else?
It’s my opinion that one of the biggest threats to Bitcoin is infighting among its key developers.
I’m not going to pretend to understand all the facets of BIP-110. It’s not my lane and I stay firmly in my lane. But I do trust guys like @adam3us. He’s been at the front of this movement from the very start. It’s his ideas that assisted in the birth of this technology.
Even setting the technical debate aside, forcing a contentious change through with low consensus thresholds goes against how Bitcoin is supposed to evolve.
💊 The Max Pain in Bitcoin options is currently acting like a painkiller for spot and futures markets:

🪙 Namecoin .bit Gateway
🔹 The oldest Web3 backend in space: Namecoin .bit domains can now be easily resolved by appending .host in any browser’s address bar. The .bit Gateway redirects to the Asset Viewer, or alternatively acts as a Web2-Web3 bridge by mirroring the original .bit website:

🔹 More and more 𝕏 members, crypto OGs, and #NFT collectors actively use their Namecoin IDs in their bio, as an on-chain link container and central Web3 ID, verifying themselves - powered by the #Bitcoin network:

⚙️ Namecoin .bit Gateway and Message Signer
To streamline the daily use of Namecoin as a Web3 backend, two new utilities have been introduced: the Namecoin .bit Gateway and the Namecoin Message Signer.
🔹 While the Namecoin Asset Viewer has been live for several years, access to Web3 IDs and domains is now further simplified through the .bit.host gateway. By appending .host to any .bit domain in a browser’s address bar, the Namecoin .bit Gateway redirects to the Asset Viewer, or alternatively acts as a Web2-Web3 bridge by mirroring the original .bit website.
🔹 The Namecoin Message Signer is a platform-independent Python tool with a graphical user interface (GUI) for signing and verifying messages for Namecoin Core descriptor, HD, and legacy wallets. This long-awaited tool replicates Namecoin Core’s native signing feature for legacy addresses while extending support to modern Bech32/SegWit addresses.

⚙️ Core Wallet Maintenance Tools
🔹 Following the release of the Core Wallet Migration Tools, it was time to release a tool for the general descriptor wallet maintenance and recovery.
🔹 Especially collectors, who have transferred out assets or got expired ones, can now get rid of the orphaned wallet entries.
🔹 Also for an easy-to-use backup routine, the Core Wallet Maintenance Tools are now available as platform-independent Python scripts for #Namecoin Core:

As always, immutably stored fully on-chain on the Namecoin blockchain, in accordance with the NMC-V Standard:

-First NFTs found there
-Fork of Bitcoin w/Active development & Naming capabilities (ie. A blockchain usecase that doesn’t have a clear network dominant ‘winner’ yet)
-21M coins (ie. just like BTC and ZEC)
-approx 60% of Bitcoin’s hashrate
Now you know why spam fanatic Adam Beck loves op_returns.... Thats why he is so protective about v30 ...
