…including how positioning the Ontario Line tracks to the west of the GO tracks will improve your commutes, simplify construction, and protect park spaces – while STILL fitting mostly within the existing GO rail corridor. (2/2)
The next time someone says we can't afford to bury the Ontario Line south of Gerrard point out that Ontario is selecting the contractor to bury the LRT on Eglinton West at a cost of 1.8 B dollars. That is a 4 lane arterial road.
@Metrolinx In your latest business case, your trains have gotten smaller, less frequent, and timeline delayed by three years. None of that is in the summary. Funny how it requires a bit more digging to find that information, isn’t it?

Cllr Fletcher moves what she describes as an omnibus motion that asks for a cost estimate of burying the Ontario Line between East Harbour and north of Gerrard, among other things. Her remote feed cuts out mid-speech however.
(8) There may be transportation and economic benefits, but these must not come at the expense of destroying neighbourhoods. Metrolinx and the City (regardless of who is paying for a project) must consider this and provide for support much more than they have on Eglinton.
@EmmMacfarlane Even better, @fordnation sold his precious Ontario Line by saying the province could and would go into deficit for it. Just not for people, I guess.
@asifintoronto@Metrolinx EXACTLY. Or, you know, it might be nice to mention details about how you plan to “shield” the community from this line. You can’t just throw around keywords and expect people to be like “cool!”
@don_cumming Yes, I am quite sure that Metrolinx is selling the fable of something for nothing transit construction if only they could do big property deals around future and existing station sites.
“We’re on a dead-end cul de sac, backing onto the ravine. There’s a reasonable expectation that they’re not going to shove a subway up your ass." East York residents get letters saying Metrolinx needs their property for Ontario Line construction. https://t.co/lyr5u4pHoJ
.@Metrolinx wants ppl to believe that its DRAFT plans mean our communities concerns are assuaged and therefore further action is invalid, but u only have to look at their record to see that u can never take them at their word. Community infrastructure still at risk #leslieville
Metrolinx needs to change its plans to protect our community. We need a subway that runs underground from Gerrard to south of Eastern. @Metrolinx@EastEndTransit@RiversideBIA@PapeCouncil We need real consultation in the north end.

EXPROPRIATIONS DURING COVID! @AMAwithAMA you said Friday expropriation for the Ontario Line was a “backstop,” but @Metrolinx is serving notices to folks RIGHT NOW. You want us to trust you, but how? Be transparent! Share your plan! @BenSpurr@moore_oliver@blogTO@CityNews
@PACCTinfo @extratwittwit@average_man6@Metrolinx @AMAwithAMA @yummybagelz@BenSpurr@moore_oliver@blogTO@CityNews We absolutely agree. We want transit done smartly, with community involvement, and transparently. When this happens, community impact is mininial. And this Ontario Line plan hits none of those benchmarks. @Metrolinx hasn’t even fulfilled their promises to provide certain plan info.
