Hello Angus! Even in that example I don’t think he’s saying Arsenal is a reflection of modern Britain though.
Arsenal are talked about as the ‘culture club’ by their fans, but I think this is more to do with the fact that the supporter base and historically the players represent the diversity of the city they play in. As an institution I just don’t think they are or have been held up as something quintessentially British.
Third least XG Aston Villa have managed in a home game under Emery and in one of those they played with 10 men for a good chunk of the game.
For all their attacking turgidity, the Gunners remain incredibly difficult to create chances against.
Chelsea completed just 155 passes against Brighton, the fewest of any team in any match this season.
It’s the fewest they’ve ever had and by quite some margin too, having only made under 200 once before since records began.
Reminder that Man City successfully argued that a 20-year-old Savio who had 21 goals and assists the previous season was worth £30.8m before essentially buying him off themselves.
After two average seasons and Savio clearly being surplus to requirements, that value has more than doubled.
Chelsea are working hard to sign Ryan Giggs, 52, as a first team winger. They see the Welshmanc as experienced and known to their fans after multiple appearances for Manchester United. Would be a free transfer as he'd retired in 2014.
