The proposition that these notorious chancers have any credibility to determine "fact from fiction" on behalf of the Irish people is transparently absurd. Yet it is an official Irish Govt policy.
The Irish Government admit they did no analysis of misinformation policies' free speech impact, with Minister Patrick O'Donovan repeatedly evading questions about this by making Fr. Ted jokes.
Ben Scallan asks about it again: "Could I get an answer that doesn't involve Dougal?"
As a critic of the policies and behaviour of the Israeli Govt, I agree with you on this. Certainly not a good look. The ignorance and arrogance of local Irish politicians is likely to be increasingly exposed as media becomes more globalised. Our electoral system in my view is not fit for purpose.
@Nick_Delehanty an interesting counter view. The compute cost may outweigh the ultimate efficiency gains, more than likely if Govts apply same environmental regs and artificial costs to AI as they do to so much else building, cars, small business, energy more broadly......
100% but I believe they are missing a trick. One major competitive advantage is that they can have human contact with their customer base unlike Revolut or the inevitable increased competition which will be like phone networks etc. who ironically do still maintain physical branches.
Every sane person in the country needs to recognise the open contempt Foley displays here. People who dance around such a consequential issue shouldn't be involved with children in any way. That is not normal behaviour at all. She seems to believe the state should teach kids about anal sex. It was a simple thing to condemn, but she decided not to.
Remember, these jokers classify as "regressive" policiess with which the vast majority of Irish people agree - deportations as part of a rules-based system (72 for 11 against 17% don't know undecided), the revocation of citizenship (117 TDs voted for in 2024 - 20 against) and close scrutiny of family reunification applications.
Beware these jokers and their facilitators imposing their language on you. "progressive" is used to smother debate, especially amongst the majority. "regressive" is used as a smear and a slur. If you don't challenge that language from the outset, you end up in a hole struggling.
100% and many of their critics regularly describe the cultural left as "liberal" and "progressive" when in reality they are often anything but, draconian, deceitful, manipulative and comically intolerant. Classic liberalism is transparently distinct from much of the behaviour of the cultural left in Ireland.
@edgar___es Apart from all else, it is so much more efficient. Anyone threatening to physically hurt others is restrained and persuaded to consider other alternatives to conflict resolution.
Don't dispute the eradication of wages by mass immigration. All obviously a deliberate policy to achieve that objective however I feel sorry for these young people. There is a power of work available to them if they are willing to do physical work, learn to cut hedges, lay patios......never easier to learn, they will initially be slow etc. but they will add value and earn good money.
Yes. Dont have any choice in the matter. @MichealMartinTD@SimonHarrisTD have already bound all Irish citizens to this reality. Anyone who voted for them is obviously also complicit and to their credit, many did vote for them.
Are we, as a country willing to sacrifice our water and power supplies to an insatiable monster, who will end up poisoning us?
“The estimated 9.3 trillion litres of water used by data centres would meet the drinking water needs of Earth’s 8.1 billion people for about 1.6 years.”
President and Vice President (in mutually agreed shared and interchanging roles) for the Irish branch of the global neoliberal implementation committee.
"“Imagine if you have to wait two or three years to bring your family. For people this is really traumatic, to be separated from children or spouses for such a long time. People are really afraid,” Personal experience of living in the US, would have loved to have an entitlement to bring entire family with me, many similar and that does not included instant welfare as there is in Ireland. Child labour being reintroduced would also be great for the economy too. All sorts of lies and deceit being promoted by a selectively publicly funded NGO.

I probably do not share your views fully on immigration as I believe overall it is positive but it needs to be balanced and equitable. Current balance in Ireland is way off.
This is all sorts of wrong. "“Imagine if you have to wait two or three years to bring your family. For people this is really traumatic, to be separated from children or spouses for such a long time. People are really afraid,” Tell that to the many Irish in the US, Canada or Australia, close family of mine included who would have loved to bring family over with them and without any instant welfare entitlements like there is in Ireland.
@MarkJCarney once, maybe still is a standard bearer for global neoliberalism but is apparently now presiding over a Canadian economy in which GDP is reducing but median wages are rising due to more equitable and balance immigration policy. "GDP" would take a significant boost from the reintroduction of child labour - it is a lousy deceitful metric for overall economic prosperity that any nation state worthy of the title requires to sustainably function.
Tried, I believe they already are? That said I believe tangible human connections in retail banking will stay popular and for some could be a competitive edge. People are overapped, over isolated and over screened. Like never easy to learn language, learn generally online but people prefer classes for human connection. Passwords, certs, codes, EU regs....old fashioned way of going to meet someone to get life admin done seems more attractive to significant amount if people.
