Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is the son of Pastor Andrew Johnson, a Church of God in Christ pastor who founded his own congregation in 1984. Brandon Johnson grew up in Elgin, Illinois.

Mayor Johnson has prioritized ideological ( Socialism,Communism,Marxism) politics over the needs of Chicago residents. He campaigned as a strong supporter of Chicago’s sanctuary city policies and repeatedly stated throughout 2023 and 2024 that Chicago could care for both longtime residents and newly arrived migrants.

As the migrant crisis unfolded, many Chicago neighborhoods experienced significant impacts. Residents came to City Hall asking for help, including homeless Chicagoans and families who believed their concerns were being overlooked. Many felt the administration responded more quickly to the needs of new arrivals than to those of longtime residents.

Chicago residents were denied the opportunity to vote on whether the city should continue its sanctuary city policy. Qe criticize former Alderman and now CEO of Chicago Park District Carlos Ramirez-Rosa for his role in opposing efforts to bring that question before the City Council.

Mayor Johnson frequently appears at affordable housing announcements and groundbreaking ceremonies, yet many Chicagoans continue to struggle with homelessness. The growing homelessness crisis particularly affecting men in Chicago deserves far greater attention and urgency.

Now Mayor Johnson is visiting Black communities, arguing that systemic racism and white supremacy are responsible for many of Chicago’s challenges. Chicago Flips Red disagree with that message. We believe his administration made policy choices that contributed to the city’s current situation, including continuing to support sanctuary city policies and funding related programs.

It is also important to remember that Greg Abbott is the Governor of Texas, which is not a sanctuary state. Buses carrying migrants were primarily sent to self-declared sanctuary jurisdictions such as Illinois, California, and New York. Chicago’s leaders publicly maintained that the city could welcome and support new arrivals.

After Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election, the public messaging around the migrant crisis shifted.That change reflected the political reality rather than a change in the facts on the ground.

Chicago Flips Red has opposed these policies from the very beginning. We consistently raised concerns about the impact of the migrant crisis on Chicago neighborhoods, city finances, public services, and the needs of longtime residents while many elected officials dismissed those concerns.

The Mayor Brandon Johnson administration needs to be investigated, along with any nonprofit organization, elected official, or church aligned with his agenda and pushing for another term.
