This week we're being represented at the World Vaccine Congress 2024 in Barcelona by some of our researchers. First up was Prof @MiriamTaegtmeye who led a pre-congress workshop on vaccine equity. Thank you to all attendees and participants! @vaccinenation
Norovirus is common, highly infectious, can cause serious and unpleasant illness, closes hospital wards especially over winter and is a risk to care homes.
A norovirus vaccine, if effective, would be a major step forward. Thank you to those taking part in and running this trial
This is an important step by the CDC. As we enter into flu season we will need significantly increased test capacity. We also need to speed up #H5N1 confirmation. Very positive step here.
We're excited to be hosting a Mathsci-comm network event on 'Communicating Mathematical and Data Sciences – What does Success Look Like?'
Date 🗓️ Thursday 21st November

How does false news affect animal health? In emergencies such as disease outbreaks, humanitarian crises and natural hazards, accurate information is critical to ensuring effective response and minimize harm. But the rapid spread of misinformation during these high-stakes situations can undermine efforts to protect human and animal populations, amplifying vulnerabilities in several ways.
Over 17,000 people signed up to #OurFutureHealth in the last week, taking part to build the biggest picture we’ve ever had of people’s health and helping researchers to make new discoveries about diseases. Here’s how many people have signed up so far:
Looking to the future with @RocheDiaUK to launch the world’s first design studio dedicated to maximising the value of real-world diagnostic solutions to population health.
CDC has now confirmed a total of 6 human cases of H5 #birdflu in California. All cases had work exposure to infected cows and experienced mild symptoms, including eye redness (conjunctivitis). The public risk assessment remains low at this time. Read more: https://t.co/37nHHI0K7h
