@Evil_Abed_24 @mattyglesias you just outlined that incomes have also not kept pace with vehicle costs, and in most of the US a car is required to go to work. of course there is a subset of people who spend poorly, there always have been. but focusing on them is a distraction from real affordability issues

@WSJ this is a bizarrely framed article. Lincoln Square is affluent, not suburban. it has higher-than average density for chicago. this is a story about the rich converting multifamily lots into single-family mansions and calling it "compromise."
