"A lot of bad educational software was designed beginning with the assumption that human interaction is unnecessary, and teachers are superfluous. This is wrong. Good teaching still requires a teacher." (Adams, 2005)

It was a pleasure to discuss James York's @cheapshot recent paper on game based language learning. An incredible reference for all language teachers! The links to the paper and the Ludic Language Pedagogy website are in the description! https://t.co/sgzj8YGpAQ #languageeducation
@PaprikaGirl_JP J-pickles!!!! π€£π€£π€£π€£ I really really love those red Japanese pickles that come with Japanese curry. Do you know by any chance what vegetable I need to pickle to make those?
If we want to prosper as human beings on this earth, we need to start understanding that equitable #accessibility to knowledge will ultimately be the key to bringing together more minds to solve the global issues and crises we all face more quickly and effectively! #edchat
From Press Conf: @BerkeleyLaw#Copyright Scholar @PamelaSamuelson on publishers lawsuit: "Itβs really tragic that at this time of pandemic the publishers would try to basically cut off even access to a digital public library like @InternetArchive."

Virtual Reality is an amazing way to help students with #autism learn valuable skills! This week I was joined by @FloreoTech to explore the wonderful Floreo VR platform as part of my newest series on VR and autism, make sure to check it out https://t.co/xc2wKgY7Ho #edtech#edchat
AMAZING interview with Dr. Nigel @Newbutt on #VirtualReality for educating people with #autism. We discuss the current situation as well as future directions. I will be featuring @FloreoTech and some other VR Autism app designers in the upcoming weeks! https://t.co/yklPodAnpX
@iLibrarianFMS @JenWomble I'm speaking from a post-secondary stand-point, mind you. I would imagine our contexts are slightly different. I am curious, however, about why it is so hard to get virtual buy-in vs. physical buy-in in terms of book reading. Is it the tactile aspect of a physical book the draw?
@JenWomble A6 This has been something that has been really important for me as I think about keeping our students engaged at home while learning. I just opened the Virtual #Makerspace for everyone to use too. :)

@JenWomble#FETCchat A4: I'm not super keen on getting shared physical objects into wide circulation given the current environment. We have been opting for getting virtual libraries functioning until the pandemic dies down to minimize human contact.
@JenWomble#FETCchat A3: we will mostly be providing virtual resources at my institution, with live library services extremely limited for the safety of staff, students and faculty.
@JenWomble#FETCchat A3: I've been excited about a lot of the virtual library options that we have access now, particularly services like @Kanopy that allow us to use our library/student cards to promote free access to documentaries and media that can function as learning resources.
@JenWomble#FETCchat My role has evolved from mostly teaching and designing #edtech platforms to researching and consulting. Media specialists (like myself) help teachers redefine and discover approaches to literacy and learning that work in this new environment.
@JenWomble#FETCchat A1: Sifting through tons of platforms to find the ones that will meet the needs of myself and my colleagues! Like everyone else, COVID-19 and #remotelearning have been big drivers for me to keep working on tech implementations in classes!
@JenWomble#FETCchat I'm Adam and I'm an instructor and instructional designer at the University of British Columbia in Canada. I am more of a video, game, and web-based text consumer so right now I don't have any books planned to read!
Tiny world photo at the University of British Columbia. I just got a @insta360 one R camera and have been playing around with it. It has a few lens fogging issues when it is turned on for too long, but the fog dissipates if you turn off the camera for a while. #technology#edtech
