#LiteracyIsLiberation—it's the key to lifelong learning, empowerment, & economic progress. Yet too many children IN #MA, especially in underserved communities, are being left behind. @MassEduEquity has a new statewide campaign to demand systemic change: https://t.co/eK8WuC3fut

This #LatinoHeritageMonth, we're reflecting on how honoring our heritage goes beyond one month. For Carolina, it means helping Latino students see themselves in what they learn every day. Read her story: https://t.co/VerU1kHzqG

Great schools don't happen by accident. They happen because a principal shows up every day for students, teachers, and families. Tag a principal who deserves a thank-you 👇

This #LatinoHeritageMonth, read Chanthy’s heartfelt reflection as a mother on why representation matters and why every child deserves to see their culture, stories, and identity reflected in school. https://t.co/c1arbe2NkH

Every student deserves a trusted adult to help them navigate what comes next. But too many students lack access to counselors, internships, advanced courses & other opportunities that can shape their future.

College Savings Month is a reminder that while families do what they can to prepare for the future, making college affordable shouldn’t rest solely on their shoulders. A student’s opportunity to pursue higher education shouldn’t depend on how much their family can afford to save.

[EdTrust in MA @EdTrustMA]

Every school should cultivate resilience, creativity, and innovation. That takes fair funding, supported educators, strong instruction, and a real investment in every student’s potential.

Public education should offer more than a seat in a classroom. It should give every student the teaching, opportunities, resources, and support to discover what they can achieve.

Let’s build a Nation of Promise.

Going back to school starts with being able to get there. Chronic absenteeism has remained a challenge in #Massachusetts since the pandemic. We asked parents to weigh in and found many barriers affecting families across MA.

The future of education should be shaped with students, families, and communities, not simply for them.
That means relevant learning, supported educators, equitable resources, and schools where every student belongs.

Department of Ed says that race should no longer be considered when collecting data on school discipline. We say you cannot address racial disparities by telling schools to ignore race. Our statement:

“The Department of Education sent a message today: race doesn’t matter. But the fact is, you cannot address racial disparities in school discipline by telling schools to ignore race. The consequences for Black students are too dire." https://t.co/vmNZyeSbPc

What’s at stake? Our students’ futures. In a @GBH report, our state director reminded us that these are not peripheral issues. Addressing these realities is central to students' ability to engage and ultimately succeed.

Honored to welcome Secretary Zrike to our MEEP meeting. His vision for Massachusetts' new statewide graduation standards reminded us why this work matters — every student deserves a diploma that prepares them for what's next.

[Heather Peske @HeatherPeske]

"We’ve been making strides in early literacy, but a child’s right to read doesn’t expire at the end of third grade. When a teenager can’t make sense of a textbook, a job application, or a college essay, we are narrowing their future — and too often it’s the same students being left behind." Couldn't agree more, @MaryTamerBoston! Massachusetts needs to bring the same urgency we’re showing early literacy to adolescent literacy.

@EdTrustMA’s new report shows that about half of Massachusetts students in grades 6-8 and 10 (nearly 150,000) aren't meeting grade-level benchmarks on the state’s standardized ELA exam, with the biggest disparities for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and Black and Latino students. Our course-passing rates seem to be masking the problem. Ninth grade ELA course-passing rates are high across every student group, but those numbers don’t match up with 10th grade state exam results. That’s a big sign we’re moving kids through the system instead of making sure they can read at grade level. https://t.co/GUWugPCEhz

Congrats to @MassINC on 30 years! 🎉It's been a pleasure partnering with the team, especially with @MassINCPolling on our parent polls.

As Jennie said, "I don't think there's another org that does it with the accuracy, transparency, + credibility."
