@mgodwin921 I agree. I have also seen sites like Quizizz that just allow students to pick a image to use. What do you think about sites like those where there are set options to choose from? #wuedt6020
@daphne_WU_EDT I agree. I like that most games have some strategy so that students who might struggle could use that to win. It also motivates students to try since they want to compete when they might otherwise be less motivated. #wuedt6020
@EDTdunbar Gamification can be used for summative assessments when used well. I've seen teacher use Quizizz for actual quizzes to promote quick thinking and make students have fun in the process. It makes them feel competitive too which can help for some. #wuedt6020
@clogiceducation I always want to have backup plans when I try new technology in my class. You have to be willing to be real with students and say something didn't work or that you are learning to, and I find it always helps to have more ready incase you need another plan. #wuedt6020
@mgodwin921 The disadvantages are all based on how you use the devices. Its important to think about when having so much access and connection becomes a negative. Sometimes having the answer at your fingertips takes away from the process of finding the answer and problem solving. #wuedt6020
@banker_suz5899 Keeping engagement right now is tough. This past week we reviewed for exams and I used Gimkit to keep engagement up and it was great. With Gimkit, yhey can play in teams and work together. Much better than a packet in class and they will work together to try and win. #wuedt6020
@cwicker001@mgodwin921@tompgavin Docs is one of my favorite tools to have students collaborate with. I also like that I can see edit history, so I can see that everyone contributed. Also protects from any accidents when multiple people are working at once. The instant feedback feature is great! #wuedt6020
@tompgavin My favorite collaboration app are probably google docs/slides. I like that they can edit and comment on each others and you can see edit history if something goes wrong. For math, I like Classkick as students can help each other with questions when they are unsure. #wuedt6020
@EDTdunbar@Jill90772834992@tompgavin I find that it works well with my high school students too. I have noticed they are more motivated and willing to try harder problems because they are competing with each other. Also great at keeping students with varying attention spans focused. #wuedt6020
@HSmith_E129@tompgavin The Career Highways program looks really cool. In the past I have taught Financial Lit and this looks like it would be a great addition to a class like that. When I taught it, I made it a game of life, so their decisions followed them throughout the course. #wuedt6020
@tompgavin I would like to implement gamification and virtual reality in my math classroom. Pretty much all of my students love to compete against each other. Also I have seen some really cool videos using VR & math! #WUEDT6020
The emerging trend I want to look into is the gamification of learning. My high school students love when I incorporate games into the classroom. #wuedt6020
