@heymrsbond Could be the start of a conversation about the conditions for learning/ the difference between learning and school/ the ways we want to show up in our learning spaces and the ways we want to create space for our learning community
@heymrsbond Another option (where possible) is to invite students to come and share a time when they really enjoyed learning: where were you? What we’re you learning? Was it easy? Did you give up? Why or why not. (maybe in small groups with teams of teachers? Or a panel might work too)
@heymrsbond I like the idea of sharing two things from summer:
One thing that brought you joy (bonus points if it isn’t school related)
One thing you learned or learned about that you want to explore this school year. Could be a start of interdisciplinary PLCs around a change idea.
“Theories show how the world works, who the world denies, and what structures uphold oppression.” Dra @karlarosette analyzing the “mechanical and monochromatic approach to practice” educators find themselves falling into given the breadth of regulation around special ed support.
Congratulations to Dra @karlarosette on defending a beautiful dissertation today: Equalizing Postsecondary Transition for At-Promise Youth Receiving Special Education Services: A Chance to Succeed. You are amazing, amiga, and you’ve worked so hard. We are beyond proud.
@KeithOlbermann The fact that female athletes are expected to be “classy” while also playing their (unpaid) hearts out for ppl’s entertainment is the root problem. The dbl standard applied to Angel’s giving as good as she got is the icing on your fucktabulous misogyny cake. #STFU Classy enough?
@ShaneSafir How to ensure their insight is received and utilized in a way that shows we acknowledge what it means for them to be honest and vulnerable and that we intend to do better.
Real Talk: I spend a LOT of time wondering if I’m the right person in the right place @ the right time. What we do can be isolating. For those of us who already suffer from self doubt/imposter syndrome, that isolation exacerbates. Keep going.Keep loving.Keep being you. It matters
Family as partners is an essential tenet to fostering a learning community. @dellagoacademy’s BAT put together an amazing reclassification celebration and presentation the reclass process for @euhsd families tonight. So great to celebrate and educate together.
@GrantLearns@dvschools I mean… what is there to say about education that hasn’t been said before? But artsy fast food… you could be the Andy Warhol of Twitter. #goals
