I’ll be attending @RiceASISummit in a few weeks representing @WashSpirit and would love to connect with as many people as possible.
Whether you’re an industry professional, an aspiring professional, or a hobbyist, feel free to send me a message!
I created an all-in-one football player metric that tries to estimate a player's impact on winning.
It's called CPM and takes inspiration from advanced basketball metrics.

New player cards!
• Contextualized plus-minus (CPM), an all-in-one metric inspired by basketball metrics (BPM/RAPTOR, etc.)
• Team-adjusted stats
More detailed explanations coming later.
Available in these leagues: 🏴🇪🇸🇮🇹🇩🇪🇫🇷🇧🇷🇺🇸🇲🇽🇵🇹🇳🇱
@MoeSquare Yes! Redesigned it to be faster and simpler to calculate. I've also been experimenting with team-adjusted stats and find that it generally makes the ratings more stable when transferring teams.

The Estimated Impact web app is now updated to include the weekend's matches.
Check it out if you want player ratings in the big 5 leagues since 17/18: https://t.co/zsqrjvbAoL
@Stat_Ron What are your thoughts on possible solutions?
I've noticed (for soccer at least) that tuned ridge lambdas can be quite volatile. The magnitude of the ratings can vary a lot across seasons. Not ideal when you want to look at the ratings over time.
@6yardscreamers@StevenMarcScott Thanks Christina! I've previously had problems with England and other footballing nations without an ISO code but I'm so happy this seems to work.
@BeGriffis Yeah I agree. The WC is obviously huge and the ultimate dream for any footballer.
But what do you think, personally? Not what the general public will think.
Bc to me, my GOAT list looks exactly the same as it would’ve done if France won the PKs. Probably an unpopular opinion.
@BeGriffis Sure. I think people focus way too much on it, though.
Messi is not a “better” or “worse” player than he was yesterday bc of this match, and neither is Mbappé.
Greater? Yes, in the eyes of the public. To me? Barely.
I’m just happy Messi won it so people can shut up about it.
