Floridians using AI deepfakes to ‘prank’ police are already breaking the law. Filing a false report (§817.49) and giving false information to law enforcement (§837.05) don’t have a ‘but it was AI-generated’ exception. The technology might be new, but the crime isn’t.
Deep Fake AI videos depicting crimes that never occurred are circulating on social media.
In some of these videos, pranksters approach law enforcement officers to “report” a crime and show video evidence of that crime – made by AI.
To be clear: Creating and sharing AI-generated “deepfake” videos that depict criminal activity is not a harmless prank. And if you show it to law enforcement, you can be arrested for making a false report.
Using AI to spread misinformation isn’t entertainment. In fact, it can be a crime.
Another politician rails against data centers and AI while running their campaign on both. The self-awareness gap is a wonder of modern infrastructure.
"A regulatory choke point designed with the best of intentions today will inevitably become a tool of political power for the administration that inherits it tomorrow."
Fantastic new piece by @turnerloesel warning against heavy-handed regulations and how they could be misused in the future: https://t.co/TzQYSFvquA
My hope is you realize this is King Charles visiting Virginia (NOT West Virginia) and the accompanying song confirms that “Country Roads” is indeed about the Old Dominion State (only way the lyrics make sense)!
Governor @GovRonDeSantis has pushed for action.
Now Speaker @Daniel_PerezFL says the House will NOT take up AI protections for kids!
Florida families deserve answers!
Invoking Jeffrey Epstein to push an AI Bill of Rights isn’t advocacy, it’s emotional manipulation. Whatever side of the debate you are on, Florida’s lawmakers deserve better than this.
This week, Florida legislators must decide: will they protect our children, or the 'Digital Epsteins' of Big Tech? We are demanding the accountability every American home deserves.
Tell your reps: The time for sensible safeguards is now.

Airlines take a beating on here, so let me be the exception. Huge thanks to @AmericanAir. Took our 5 month old daughter on her first flight this week, and the staff across the board, check-in, lounge, gate, air crew, made every effort to make it seamless.
