Today's words for @tepoumuramura Rāmere Shorts are selected from Jenna Heller's 'Drawing lots': digging, earthworms, dance, dark, mythology, lurking.
I decided to disregard the 140 character limit because je m'en fiche - I didn't want to reduce this down so much to lose meaning.
a canopy of lies
protects the dark
lurking in my soul
through earthworms I find
a dance too sweet
to slither and slide
digging through, making holes
mythology protects
a truth too deep

It's been a little while - but saw these words and knew I could write a little something.
From Ruby Macomber's 'What We Sang At Nan's Funeral', @tepoumuramura's Rāmere Shorts words today are: fruit, pressing, repeat, below, weep, bolted
...
I dread the blue
cooking me inside out
keep the curtains closed
and hide in the cupboard
shut in my mind
night is only alive
when the wind blows
let me die here
The words for @tepoumuramura's Rāmere shorts today, are from Morgan Bach's 'The swimming pool': memory, measured, warm, smell, face, leapt.
Some days I miss you more than others- it was quite coincidental these words were picked today. I felt like they fit with how I was feeling
you leapt to cardigan besides
measured to sit just right
face soft against me
small breath too
leaning in to your warmth
a smell burned in memory

Today marks a year since we lost our cat, Thomas. I wrote this poem in remembrance.
"On the brightest day, I see you in the white candyfloss clouds floating above our heads"
@ReverendJasmine I usually write so many; because I try so hard to stick to the 140 character limit, I end up deleting or trimming most 🫠
I've thought about keeping them for later use, but I always forget and delete before I've thought too hard about it.
Today's @tepoumuramura Rāmere Shorts' words are selected from a poem by Hana Pera Aoake:
swim, volcano, leave, darts, dreaming, sky
Is this Auckland specific? Is this a memory, or a dream? I can never tell these days. But, I feel I've laid on the slope of a volcano to look out-
lie in soft grass
volcano slope look out
watch stars in the sky-
lights in homes below
dreaming darts of light
help us leave-
to swim away forever

dreaming darts of light

The words for @tepoumuramura's Rāmere Shorts, today, were selected from Tracey Slaughter's 'what this hotel room wants': trembling, pillow, grey, laugh, octave, carpet.
I wish I knew what to say!
trembling through smog -
grey the hair whimpers -
an octave unheard -
because it carpets.
clutching our pillows -
laugh instead,
forward and on.

Words for today's @tepoumuramura Rāmere Shorts come from Jackson McCarthy's 'prelude': walk, call, Tuesday, afternoon, sun, down:
I imagine walking down the centre of the street often... not sure what it is about it. I also say "only on Tuesdays" (or variation) often, dunno why
Only Tuesdays
I feel dread
I don't know what it is about it
walk the centre of the street
call the sun to fall
down the horizon
afternoon in night
