If we suddenly, retrospectively, made every Grand Tour a 16-stage race, then, since 2010, the following riders would have won Grand Tours instead of the real winners:
• David Arroyo 🇪🇸 (2010 Giro)
• Joaquim Rodríguez 🇪🇸 (2012 Giro, 2010, 2012, 2015 Vuelta)
• Steven Kruijswijk 🇳🇱 (2016 Giro)
• Simon Yates 🇬🇧 (2018 Giro)
• João Almeida 🇵🇹 (2020 Giro)
• Richard Carapaz 🇪🇨 (2022 Giro)
• Geraint Thomas 🇬🇧 (2023 Giro)
• Isaac del Toro 🇲🇽 (2025 Giro)
• Thomas Voeckler 🇫🇷 (2011 Tour)
• Julian Alaphilippe 🇫🇷 (2019 Tour)
• Primož Roglič 🇸🇮 (2020 Tour)
• Vincenzo Nibali 🇮🇹 (2013 Vuelta)
• Odd Christian Eiking 🇳🇴 (2021 Vuelta)
• Ben O'Connor 🇦🇺 (2024 Vuelta)
So now, you may ask who would have lost Grand Tours and how many, here's the list:
Primož Roglič - 3 (1 Giro, 2 Vuelta)
Vincenzo Nibali - 2 (1 Giro, 1 Vuelta)
Ivan Basso, Ryder Hesjedal, Chris Froome, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Jai Hindley, Simon Yates, Cadel Evans, Egan Bernal, Tadej Pogačar, Alberto Contador, Chris Horner, Fabio Aru - 1
Does this mean that Primož Roglič is the most clutch third week rider of the last 17 years even when he lost the most important piece in the third week, too? Some could argue for that...
However, what's more important is that in 1/3 of the Grand Tours of the last 17 years (statistically, in one GT every year) there was a change of general classification leadership after stage 16 of a Grand Tour. That's a lot. And while I kinda liked the 18-stage Grand Tour of 2020 Vuelta, 21 is the one we must go with in the near and distant future. The exhaustion (not just for the riders, but for us too) of the third week, where everyone is in a completely different state, both physically and mentally… it’s one of those painful yet fantastic things that’s unique to cycling, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and to get rid of it, even in just a single Grand Tour, would be a huge and irreversable offence and a huge damage to reputation.

Remco lost 4kg in 2.5 months and you have been singing his praises all the time.
PFP last year lost 4kg in 2.5 months and you just called her victory illegitimate and unfair.
Okay, fine, then I guess I will never ever post about PFP after today, fine. Having feelings about healthy bodies is in fact forbidden here, fine. Having feelings about past events is also forbidden fine. What can we do then? Fuck around and wait for controversies to slap those with feelings? Cause that's what some of you does here, ladies and gents.
Out of office for a while, if needed, I'll be available in DMs.
@NairoInGreen@OriginalEasyV1 18 Bernal was around 650 iirc. 0.25 w/kg more is perfectly possible if there was a bit more wind and he also went from near the bottom. 40 seconds faster is also a lot on 24 min climb.
@NairoInGreen Yesterday was bad, but massive improvement today after injuries. Just tell skjelly to give a leadout tomorrow because he can’t chat to us on long climbs.
@Sageof6turtles@pateksneered 29% according to next gen. Pretty mid for Seattle. Anyway they were obviously awesome last year, but still more confidence in the Texans. I’m gonna need to see some good offenses actually play decent against them to change that.
@Sageof6turtles@pateksneered No the reason why they got dominated was because they got barely any amount of pressure against a good but not great O line and Stafford barely had to work under pressure and dominated under PA. That O line gives me zero confidence against H’s D line to replicate that.
@Sageof6turtles@pateksneered Not even kidding but Stafford played prob his best game against Houston last year. The problem is despite that, he had basically zero time the entire game and every window was closed directly to be consistent drive to drive
