18th April - ❝Justice of #Tigray❞ - Tigrayans in #Belgium Protested in Brussels urging for the full and speedy implementation of the 2022 Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (COHA)

Despite one year and half after the signing of the COHA - #Amhara and #Eritrean forces continue to occupy and commit ethnically targeted atrocities in Western, Eastern, and Southern Tigray (Humera, Wolkait Tsegede, Tselemti, Irob, Raya, Alamata, Kunama Zalambesa)

Over 2 million internally displaced people cannot return to their homes unless these brutal forces (accused of Crime against humanity, War Crimes and Ethnic Cleansing) withdraw from their land.

They also protested for the #Ethiopian government to fully expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid basic services into Tigray. Only less than 30% of what is needed is getting into Tigray as people suffer the displacement, aftermath of war and drought that has engulfed the Horn of #Africa.

Lastly they demanded for an International Independent and impartial investigation into the Genocidal war on Tigray that claimed the lives of over 800,000 civilians.

Eritrean forces have reportedly abducted 26 individuals in #Gulomekeda, Eastern Tigray, over the past seven months. Haftom Baraki, the district head, exposed the dire situation in an interview with Addis Standard, disclosing that Eritrean soldiers maintain control over six kebeles, including #Addis_Tesfa, #Addis_Alem, and #Sebeya.

This occupation traces back to the conflict's onset in November 2020, creating an ongoing humanitarian crisis. Security challenges persist in Gulomekeda, hindering movement, while Eritrean forces compel residents to adhere strictly to directives.

#Fasti town, the administrative seat, serves as the sole source of information, with residents facing human rights violations, restricted movement, and a lack of basic services under Eritrean control.

The distress extends to #Irob in northeastern Tigray, where over 28 youths were reportedly abducted over ten months. Despite peace agreements, Eritrean forces remain in Irob, covering four kebeles against the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

Disturbing reports from Refugees International reveal the unimaginable suffering endured by Tigrayan women during the two-year war. A staggering 40–50% faced gender-based violence, with over 80% reporting rape, often brutal gang rape by armed groups. Shockingly, only three psychologists struggle to support seven million people in #Tigray, leaving survivors to cope with trauma using makeshift remedies like holy water.

In #Kolla_Temben, survivors share harrowing stories of assault and despair. A 60-year-old woman, once dedicated to serving God, was shattered by an Eritrean armed forces assault. A 16-year-old girl, fleeing with her family, was brutally gang-raped.

Meseret Hadish, founder of the Hiwuyet charity in #Mekelle, tirelessly works to heal trauma caused by sexual violence during the Tigray war. Visiting victims in Kolla Temben, Meseret witnessed the aftermath of brutalities, including mass slaughter, arson, and looting, affecting over 360 girls and mothers.

Close to 86% of health facilities in Tigray are damaged, hindering survivors from receiving necessary care. Abrehet, a survivor, shared the inhumane treatment she endured during the war. With limited access to healthcare, many victims, like Abrehet, turn to holy water for healing.
