Fascinating line in document detailing new evidence...
"FOM, as Official Timekeeping Supplier to the Competition, provided evidence that the distance
used in calculating the F1 Official Timing (and hence the pit lane speed) was inaccurate and overestimated the speed of Car 10."
🏴 1988 McLaren Test
🇧🇷 Ayrton Senna - McLaren MP4/4
In September 1988, Ayrton Senna traveled to the Pembrey Circuit in Carmarthenshire, Wales, to conduct a secret test for the McLaren team.
Driving a modified version of the legendary McLaren MP4/4, Senna unofficially shattered the track record with a lap time of 44.43 seconds
The McLaren team, accompanied by about 60 Honda and McLaren crew members, secretly camped out under awning tents on the redundant runways of the old airfield circuit.
Senna tested a development chassis to prepare for the 1989 season, as the highly successful turbo-engine era was coming to a close and normally-aspirated engines were being introduced.
Blistering the 1.5-mile track at speeds reaching approximately 120 mph, Senna broke the circuit record previously held by his Brazilian compatriot and McLaren test driver, Maurício Gugelmin.
Not sure what Maurício Gugelmin would make of his last name being slaughtered. 😇🤣

The 2nd-placed G. Berger, who was having an excellent weekend & was only 3s behind Senna, began to experience mechanical problems (probably exhaust), wandering around the track like a wounded animal letting out a sad, lamenting cry from its V12 eng.

New #F1 PU regulations: ~1100hp in 2028! 🤩
-Increased ICE power (+20 kW in '27, +50 kW in '28) via higher fuel flow
-Decreased ERS power (-50 kW), but NOT in overtake mode (which gets STRONGER, increasing power vs Std.)
-Increased harvesting power: same energy harvested in less time
Consequences:
-LESS total power (-30 kW) in '27, back to baseline in '28
-MORE total power in overtake mode: 800 kW in '28 (~1090 hp), exceeding 1100 hp through PU development!
-ICE power share rises to 60% (up from 53% today) → less clipping (the +400 kW harvesting power will help too)
Net result: higher performance and top speeds, less clipping. Not a massive shift, but one that satisfied manufacturers!

🚨| ADUO system explained: Why dominant Mercedes still qualifies for concessions?
— The Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) system is designed to manage power unit performance under F1's 2026 rules. It allows manufacturers lagging behind the leading engine to receive development opportunities to close the performance gap.
— Red Bull Powertrains has been identified as the top engine, prompting Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi, and Honda to receive ADUO assistance. Mercedes is two percent behind, earning one upgrade, while Ferrari, Audi, and Honda are four percent behind, qualifying for more upgrades.
— ADUO tokens can be used on various power unit components, such as the Internal Combustion Engine, turbocharger, and Control Electronics. Each manufacturer decides how to allocate their tokens, with cost cap adjustments reflecting these upgrades.
— The FIA has not disclosed its criteria for determining engine performance to prevent manufacturers from manipulating the system. This secrecy aims to ensure fair competition and genuine performance improvements.
— Mercedes HPP will receive a $3 million budget increase, while Audi, Ferrari, and Honda will get up to $4.65 million to support their development efforts under the ADUO system.
— The ADUO system does not allow for stockpiling of upgrade tokens, with specific windows for upgrades planned after the Hungarian and Mexico City GPs, impacting the 2027 season.
— The focus of ADUO is solely on the Internal Combustion Engine, which explains why Red Bull's engine is rated highest despite Mercedes' overall season dominance.

🚨| Leclerc's Brake Blame Disputed by Supplier:
— Charles Leclerc attributed his Monaco Grand Prix crash to brake failure, expressing frustration over the radio. Speaking to media, Leclerc explained:
“These f***ing brakes!”
— Leclerc insisted the crash was due to brake issues, not driver error or track conditions. He elaborated:
“Out of the four brakes, I had three brakes not working. So, in a Formula One car, it's never a good thing.”
“The front left was working well, the front right was half working, and the two rear brakes were not working at all.”
“And when I say at all, on data there's no deceleration at all. It's like I don't know, the calipers were not on the car, so it's a little bit of an issue.”
— Leclerc plans to adopt his teammate Lewis Hamilton's braking setup for the next race in Barcelona, hoping for improvement:
“The only thing I can say is that we have a solution in-house, and I'll go to Lewis' configuration from next race on, which hopefully will be a step.”
— Brembo, Ferrari's brake supplier, challenged Leclerc's claims, calling them premature without a full investigation. In a statement, Brembo expressed surprise:
“Brembo Group is really surprised by the statements made by Charles Leclerc after F1's Monaco Grand Prix.”
“At present, the company does not know the causes of the issues experienced by Charles Leclerc and therefore considers it premature to draw definitive technical conclusions before the available data has been analysed.”
“In cases such as this, it is necessary to examine the telemetry data together with the team's engineers in order to accurately determine the origin of the incident.”
“Brembo is a benchmark in F1 and is present on every car on the grid through its braking technologies.”
“The group will continue to invest in innovation, reliability and performance, while continuing its collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari and all other F1 teams.”

F1 manufacturers and the FIA have agreed to stagger the shift to 60/40 ICE/battery power split over next two years.

That’s my Christmas present sorted. 😂
