Today was a BIG day! I'm stoked to share I'm the host of a new podcast called The TED AI Show.
I also had the chance to co-host a "mind expanding" session on the TED2024 stage with the one and only @TEDchris featuring the likes of @vkhosla, @drfeifei, @ashtom, @hlntnr and more.
Hi! I produced this season with the very wonderful @NoraMathison@ElahFeder and the rest of the @LostWomenofSci team. We've been out for a hot minute now, but catch up with eps 1-4 before our 5th and final episode drops next week.
I'm sorry for tweeting again! Tweeting once a year for self-promotion is the probably second-most loathsome kind of tweeting, but I'm genuinely proud of this series, and I think everyone should hear the story of Marie Nyswander!
In the early 1960s, trailblazing physician Marie Nyswander teamed up with doctors at the Rockefeller Institute to treat addiction—with drugs.

It is here! First episode - an adventurous young doctor from a family of liberal academics gets posted to a prison-hospital in rural Kentucky, and starts rethinking her life's purpose
Season 5 of the Lost Women of Science is live!
The first episode of "The Doctor and the Fix" is now available wherever you get your podcasts.

I internally vowed to never tweet again over a year ago, but that caused one or two people to think I was dead. So a quick update: I'm here, and things are good, and I've been working on this amazing story about a psychiatrist named Marie Nyswander!
Here’s the trailer for Season 5, The Doctor and the Fix: How Marie Nyswander changed the landscape of addiction. This time, we bring you her story and the radical treatment that would upend the landscape of addiction for decades to come.

Sad, but true. Science Diction is no longer. It was some of the greatest fun I ever had working on a podcast, or on anything really! Thank you to @yohannamayer and @dpeterschmidt and the many incredible freelancers for the good times
Sad to hear that @scifri's "Science Diction" podcast series is ending. The show's explorations of words and the science stories behind them were consistently entertaining. Kudos to @yohannamayer @ElahFeder et al. for the great work. https://t.co/9MLmPs8dtZ
“Waste land” from @planetmoney is excellent reporting about plastic recycling.
The plastics industry has known for decades that recycling plastic is not going to happen.
Their secret weapon was to give false hope to consumers via the little recycling arrows and the numbers:
Ladybird Ladybug was about the surprising names and special qualities of the insects that are not ladies, birds or bugs, featuring @Dr_Ladybird and in collaboration with @ElahFeder & @yohannameyer; find the companion episode on the Science Diction podfeed https://t.co/vet5cyZTmA
I'll probably never tire of evangelizing about the linguistics of vocal fry! I had a great time talking with @scifri's Science Diction podcast about the history & focus of creaky voice research (plus reminiscing about the very reason I joined Twitter). https://t.co/SXBu060QSp
I did a podcast with Science Diction on the origin of the word "Juggernaut." Listen to find out how political and historical forces can imbue words with strange meanings. Do listen.

I had no idea the history of air conditioning, its role as one of humankinds' most transformative technologies — and its future importance/cost as the planet warms would be so fascinating. Surprising and fun listen by @ShahlaFarzan and @scifri https://t.co/XvTf186JHj
