It’s hard to believe all of this could arrive at once in hours:
> The best opensource model ever
> The largest frontier opensource model ever
> The frontier model with native vision and the best taste
> “DeepSeek R1 moment” again
> Model weights available to everyone for free, second only to Fable 5 in performance
> Another major victory for the opensource model community
Some people stayed up all night for this.
Some people woke up early to get to work on it.
I’m so excited right now that I can barely put it into words. 🔥
I used GPT Image 2 to redraw the Financial Times' widely criticized illustration of Yang Zhilin, the founder of @Kimi_Moonshot , while preserving the original composition and elements.
Do you think this looks better now? 👀
It's disappointing to see the Financial Times portray the leader of an AI company dedicated to pursuing AGI while freely contributing its model weights and research to the world, with such an ugly and exaggerated cartoon illustration.
Anthropic is a company that, from its founding to this day, has never open-sourced a single model in its entire history. It not only collects data everywhere without authorization, has been sued over it, and lost the case, but has also continually attacked and smeared the open-source contributions of other AI labs, especially Chinese ones, monitored users and treated them with hostility, devoted itself so heavily to promoting AI doomsday narratives that it has even tripped itself up over them, held firmly to the belief that open source means unsafe and uncontrollable, opposed and obstructed the release of open model weights, excessively exaggerated national security crises and social risks, and exploited emotional fear for hype and marketing, all to maintain its own technological lead and keep itself at the center of a high-profile narrative.
Is Andrej Karpathy about to leave Anthropic? 🙀
@karpathy profile bio now only has the opening sentence left. The long list of experiences that followed, including "MTS @Anthropic," is gone. What's going on? 👀

China’s AI race has been a battle for talent, with deep-pocketed tech groups aggressively poaching from smaller start-ups. Throughout this, Moonshot founder Yang Zhilin has kept one of China’s strongest research teams together https://t.co/0qCXw4Xav3
DeepSeek was aiming to raise at least 10 billion yuan of additional funds in a follow-on deal, though the final amount could go higher depending on the number of investors that sign on https://t.co/McUpkAOvzM

Sam Altman says "We are in the singularity."
I agree. This feels far more reasonable than the hype a year ago before GPT-5, when he was sitting in a chair as if he'd just witnessed an atomic bomb explosion. 💥🤪🪑
Believe we're now on the eve of AI automation assistants becoming mainstream. 👀🤖✨
