4 years down the line I am an Emergency Medical Dispatcher, where communication and radio etiquette is hugely important. Dont let anything hold you back folks, if I can do it you all can ๐
Dispatch, speech and the power of showing up scared ๐ง
Grateful to share my journey of working within NEOC with a speech impediment, the challenges, and how I overcame them.
Bravery is speaking even when the words dont come easily.

โ ๏ธ Difficult weather conditions are affecting our response times in many areas โ ๏ธ
Please avoid unnecessary travel, check your local weather updates at @MetEireann and only call 999 in an absolute emergency.
We are currently in our busiest time of the year with extremely high call volumes and significant delays in waiting times.๐
Help us in this festive season by using 999/112 wisely and considering alternative care options when it's not a life-threatening emergency.

Wishing NEOC Supervisor Tony Keane the very best in his retirement this week, after 42 years of service.
Tony worked in several roles over his career in Ambulance Operations as well as Regional Ambulance Control and NEOC.
Pictured with his NEOC and Operational colleagues.
Disturbing reports that our members in Dublin Fire Brigade are coming under attack as they respond to incidents in the city centre tonight. Reckless and shameful behaviour. Solidarity with all those working to keep our streets safe tonight and every night. #DublinRiots
I've been operating radios for years, I've spoken to land crews, air crews, and people from every corner of the country. I sat in a taxi in Kerry last night and can safely say I did not understand one word that was spoken over their radio ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
๐ข We have positions open for Emergency Medical Controllers (Emergency Call Takers)! These are critical roles within our service that ensures clinically appropriate and timely pre-hospital patient care and intermediate care service.

Watfordโs Ken Sema suffers with a stutter, but he bravely came out and did the post-match interview last night... โค๏ธ
This will really help a lot of people. Anyone who suffers with a stammer knows how hard and deflating it can be. Brilliant @Semaken! ๐
Ringing in 2023 with the better half doing the Tom Brennan memorial new years day race. The movie Run Fatboy Run comes to mind!! Here's to 2023 ๐๐
Today we launched the @Scotambservice Critical Care Desk (CCD). The CCD is staffed by Advanced Practitioners in Critical Care and Advanced Retrieval Practitioners from @EMRSscotland, West ScotSTAR and dedicated ambulance control centre coordinators.
With it being International Stuttering Awareness day and a proud stutterer one piece of advice I'd give anyone is - don't hide your stutter, you are worthy of speaking as much as anybody else! Be seen and be heard, you have nothing to be ashamed about ๐

Let me hear your go to coffee options while on the job! Do you use instant Kenco like some sick caffeine deprived neanderthal? Are you the petrol station grab and go type? Or are you among the elite like myself ๐คฃโ
