I recently read that moving to a new country is like learning to be an adult all over again, but in a short amount of time and with way less help. 🙃
Forgive me if I'm a bit quieter on here for a while, but I'm still checking in often!
@6Kicker The issue is mocking pain and suffering at all just normalizes mocking pain and suffering. The White House has been creating meme content around policy and immigration for a while now and it only serves to undermine the severity of the issues and distract imo.
Maybe a hot take but also maybe not, the memefication of serious socio-economical and geo-political issues and events from government agencies is an intentional attempt to trivialise, dehumanise and desensitise as they ramp up the insanity of shit they continue to pull.
@MrEMC_@zvvzhe@djrtyhands FWIW since Hamilton is listed in OP's post, I think the Rent stage recording ("Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway") could also be considered here, instead of the (agreed, so bad) movie adaptation.
In The @NewYorker, I take a step back and introduce a new idea about what won, and lost, the election: the ambience of information. https://t.co/nsrm243ulZ
I have to admit Nikon's new ad campaign "Don't give up on the real world" is rather genius marketing. Using the fact that generating AI photorealistic images is trending to promote their photography products.
What do you think?

new series, 'cut flowers'
we can consider collage a physical act of 'post-photography' - source imagery is deconstructed, then reconstructed, presenting us with an impression of what it once was.
An inqury into still-life.
I am so excited to continue extending on the language of flowers.

@foundation
Just think about AI and the arts, and how we attribute value. I have no doubt machine-produced books will be as good as some human writers soon. And that's fine if all you want is an easy-to-consume product. But when it comes to value in art, the source matters. Look at food:
While some may argue that political art is too provocative and over the top to be shown at art institutions, it is important to recognize that art has always been a powerful means of expression and reflection on social and political issues.
Artistic expression is not limited to aesthetics alone; it can also serve as a powerful tool for social commentary and reflection. Political art can be thought-provoking, emotionally charged, and intellectually stimulating, offering a unique perspective on the world we live in.
Art institutions should embrace their role as platforms for diverse artistic expressions, including those that address political themes, as they contribute to the rich tapestry of cultural dialogue and understanding.
What Wikipedia did: we stood strong for our principles and fought to the Supreme Court of Turkey and won. This is what it means to treat freedom of expression as a principle rather than a slogan.
I know a lot of you wanted a technical breakdown of this meme so here it is!
I don't think you will find this level of detail anywhere else so keep reading if you don't want to miss out.
@AnotherVariety1@mintface Hey, so nice to meet you too! Sorry for the slow reply - I've been in the middle of a major move so haven't been able to be on here much. 🙃😅
@icreatelife It's surreal how much pleasure I feel when using my creativity. With the help of #AI, I can now use words as my paintbrush to express my deepest emotions.
@zigmarillion I am, thanks Zig! Moved up to Tromsø at the start of the year, so just quite busy with life stuff and getting set up here. Hope you are well too!
