@ThatAussieWoman You're accusing Bec of playing a "gender pretend" game because she's not performing the ideal role of womanhood you've conjured up, despite her being a bio adult female. Your attitude is exactly the reason confused gender nonconforming young people might feel they are trans.
@lauraghjames@Aunty_Bigot You're right, CPR is de-emphasised in cardiac arrest due to trauma, and other interventions (which the child had at the scene) ar prioritised instead. The extent of cardiac injuries wouldn't have been known until the child made it to the operating theatre.
@CormacLaffan This article quotes directly from a fundraising page set up by her parents which provided that detail about celebrating her birthday at home with cake tasting.
@SeamusMor19 Because at the time at which doctors make the critical decision to keep someone alive they often don't have all information such as their downtime available. Also children can show remarkable neurolasticity and often the true extent of their injuries cant be known until later.
@Glinner Graham you are a nasty piece of work, nobody should think you are in any way an advocate for women if this is they way you treat them. Your distaste for trans women is just thinly disguising your contempt for all women.
@Aunty_Bigot@OldblueAyeAyes Instead of dialling 999 they flagged down a passing ambulance, blood was brought to the scene from the nearest non-paeds hospital (Rotunda). All not in keeping with typical trauma protocols but pragmatic decisions that expedited critical care. https://t.co/OuoIt4s9Rd
@Aunty_Bigot@OldblueAyeAyes No the protocols they broke were all time saving: bringing her to the nearest paeds hospital rather than the one with cardiothoracics. Getting the cardiothoracic surgeon to come over from the adult hospital, the anaesthetist literally running to the paeds hospital to prep theatre
@DavQuinn Any extremes of climate are going to be dangerous for a population not used to them and which doesnt have infrastructure adapted to these extremes.
@lauraghjames@Aunty_Bigot This of course doesnt answer your question about how many children survive fully neurologically intact after their brain is shut down for a prolonged period of time, but I'm sure you're as capable of googling as I am.
@lauraghjames@Aunty_Bigot At my Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course this week we were told of a 2 yr old who drowned and had a cardiac arrest with prolonged downtime and CPR. She survived fully neurologically intact. I think most parents would take that chance, even if the risk is profound disability
@Donna__McLean Depending on the specialities involved and how many staff changed each shift, it's entirely plausible that 40 clinicians could have legitimate reasons for accessing the notes. Including people not directly involved in his care but who used the notes/images for case presentations.
@millihill@Independent Looks like they've updated the headline, must have had a lot of negative feedback. Agree, original headline was completely misleading and unacceptable.
