Barack: You told me all those years ago that you couldn’t promise me the world, but you could promise me an interesting life. Of course, you outdid yourself and managed to give me both.
Eight years in the crucible, and not once did you melt from the heat. Not once did you let it harden you. Instead, you used it to reveal your truest essence: your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage, your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency, your ferocious work ethic and absolutely unshakable moral fiber.
It is estimated there are around 3,400 billionaires in the world. Imagine a scenario in which half of them decided to compete against Bill Gates in who could eradicate the most diseases, who could provide the most clean drinking water, who could most improve global education.
What marrying a kind partner can do is change the texture of your entire life.
Kindness brings peace into everyday moments. Small misunderstandings don’t become battles. Difficult days don’t feel heavier than they already are. You are not constantly on edge, explaining yourself or defending your intentions. Home becomes a place of rest, not another arena to survive.
A kind partner supports your growth without competition. They don’t feel threatened by your progress or insecure about your ambitions. Instead, they encourage you, correct you gently, and stand with you when things don’t go as planned. That kind of support quietly builds confidence.
Kindness improves how you handle pressure. When life hits hard, work is stressful, or money is tight, a kind partner doesn’t add shame to the situation. They help you think clearly, plan better, and move forward without panic. Problems become shared challenges, not personal failures.
Marrying a kind partner also changes who you become. You grow softer without becoming weak. You learn patience, empathy, and better communication. You respond instead of reacting. Over time, you become a calmer and more grounded version of yourself.
Kindness doesn’t mean weakness. It means emotional safety. It means respect during disagreement. It means choosing understanding over ego.
In the long run, kindness outlasts charm, beauty, and excitement.
It sustains love when everything else fades.
What marrying a kind partner can do is simple.
It makes life lighter, steadier, and more meaningful.
People say, “I don’t need to read fiction.” You absolutely do. The world is currently being run by rich, antisocial, amoral men who have never opened a book, and you need only look around to see the damage it’s caused. Empathy & curiosity are vanishing because people don’t read.
This is Bryan. Once a week, he takes a shelter pup on a New York City adventure in his ‘Adopt Me’ backpack, hoping someone will fall in love. He films their big day out, and almost every dog he’s featured has found a forever home. Please leave him a heart ❤️ for helping good dogs find their humans.

This should absolutely terrify you.
We live in an age of rising authoritarianism.
The prospect of a right-wing authoritarian government in the UK is far from a fantasy.
Combine with ever more sophisticated surveillance tech - and consider how dissent could be made impossible.
Politics needs a bit more Ed Davey and less Farage. It’s possible to be decent, not divisive as this statement on Rayner shows.
“I understand it is normally the role of opposition leaders to jump up and down and call for resignations – as we’ve seen plenty of from the Conservatives already.
“Obviously if the ethics advisor says Angela Rayner has broken the rules, her position may well become untenable.
“But as a parent of a disabled child, I know the thing my wife and I worry most about is our son’s care after we have gone, so I can completely understand and trust that the deputy Prime Minister was thinking about the same thing here.
“Perhaps now is a good time to talk about how we look after disabled people and how we can build a more caring country.”
Rayner is an icon. This isn’t about tax, it’s the misogynistic vilification of a working class woman for daring to better herself and be outspoken.
Male Tories evaded millions, sent it offshore, did all they could to avoid paying tax. Don’t pretend that this is about fairness.
I wish people would read the detail: the framework of access to an abortion – including the need for two doctors’ signatures, and the time limits at which terminations can be carried out – will *remain the same* and doctors who act outside the law will still face the threat of prosecution.
The issue is that the women - almost always vulnerable as a result of domestic abuse and violence, human trafficking and sexual exploitation or women who have given birth prematurely - will no longer be at risk of being thrown into cells.
