🏥Health System Administration & Palliative Care: Where Structure Meets Care💖
In Ruli District Hospital (@HospitalRuli ), the involvement of #administration is creating the conditions for care to be delivered more consistently.
With #leadership engaged, palliative care is finding its place within the daily flow of the health system, not as an added task, but as part of how care is organized and sustained.
In practice, this is shown through:
✨Clearer coordination of care across departments.
✨Support for teams to align with patient and family needs.
✨Palliative care included in routine planning and service delivery.
✨ Continuum of care that does not stop at one provider.

Multidisciplinary Team & Palliative Care: Caring for the Whole Person💖
A #holistic approach to care takes a team. At @GatondeHospital, palliative care is being shaped through a multidisciplinary approach, where diverse professionals come together to care for patients and their families.
Here, care is understood across:
✨#Physical needs: managing pain and symptoms
✨#Emotional and #psychological needs: responding to distress and fear
✨#Social and #cultural realities: recognizing family roles and context
✨#Spiritual needs: acknowledging beliefs and dignity
When these dimensions come together, care becomes complete. This is how multidisciplinary teams help bring holistic palliative care that values the lived experience of patients and families.
#ACREOLGlobal #MDT #Gatonde
🔔When palliative care moves beyond the training room, care becomes part of everyday practice.💖
In Nemba District Hospital (@HospitalNemba ), peer-to-peer learning is opening space for healthcare professionals to look more closely at care, not only for patients, but for the families who walk with them.
Conversations are becoming more specific:
✨How to #listen beyond patients’ physical pain
✨How to #support families during difficult decisions
✨How to #work as a team
✨How to #stay present, even when there is no cure
This is where change begins: not in protocols alone, but in conversations between peers. A quiet shift; but one that reaches every patient, every family, and every bedside.

✨Beyond Medicine: The Unseen Dimensions of Care💖
The unseen is often where care begins.
At the ACREOL Global office, we had the privilege of welcoming Georges Camara (CEO, @LoungeBirdie ) and Dr. Amy Camara (Therapeutic Doctor, Alma wellness ) for a profound exchange on expanding the boundaries of care.
Together, we explored how #PalliativeCare can go beyond the clinical to embrace:
✨Spirituality, therapeutic energy, and holistic approaches to care.
✨Practices such as acupressure, hypnotherapy, energy alignment, and conscious listening.
✨The importance of restoring balance, calming the mind, and reconnecting with oneself.
These perspectives remind us that care is not only about treating illness, but about honoring #Humanity, nurturing #Comfort, #Dignity, and emotional well-being, especially in life’s most vulnerable moments.
Thank you, Georges Camara and Dr. Amy Camara, for illuminating these unseen yet essential dimensions of care.
👉🏾Because palliative care is not only what is seen, it is also what is deeply felt.

From Fulbright at Harvard to Community Impact 🇷🇼🌍
⁉️What does #Freedom really mean?
At the @USAmbRwanda's #Freedom250 Alumni Symposium, our Executive Director, Dr. Christian Ntizimira, a @FulbrightPrgrm alumnus and @Harvard graduate, delivered a #Keynote that reframed freedom not as an idea, but as a responsibility.
From his Fulbright journey to advancing #PalliativeCare across Africa, he reminded us: global learning must always return home, to serve communities, strengthen health systems, and protect dignity.
Freedom is the ability to care, and to build systems where compassion isn’t optional.
“Exchange programs are not travel opportunities, they are responsibility multipliers”…. He concluded the keynote speech.
🥳Congratulations to all the outstanding alumni recognized for driving transformative change.
Thank you, U.S. Embassy Kigali, for convening leaders committed to innovation, impact, and service.

The University of British Columbia Meets ACREOL Global 🇨🇦🤝🇷🇼
When global perspectives meet local realities, learning goes both ways.
Perspectives from the University of British Columbia (@UBC ) met the realities of palliative care in Rwanda during a visit to the @acreolglobal office by Dr. Sarah Broder, Respirologist/GIM, Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC, and a Medical Director of Palliative Care from #Canada who has been in #Rwanda working with the clinical teaching units at @chu_butare.
Her experiences at CHUB and hearing about Dr. Christian Ntizimira’s work in #PalliativeCare sparked a curiosity to connect firsthand. During the visit, she witnessed how palliative care in our context values culture, family, and #Ubuntu philosophy in caring for patients and their loved ones.

🔔Real health system change starts with people.
In @GakenkeDistrict, healthcare providers from @HospitalNemba, @GatondeHospital, and @HospitalRuli are taking steps toward that vision by strengthening their knowledge through palliative care training.
⁉️Why the training?
To help teams rethink how care is delivered, shaping their culture around holistic #PalliativeCare and building stronger palliative care practices across the district.
⁉️What does this mean for patients and families?
Care that improves comfort, dignity, and quality of life.💖
Grateful to @RBCRwanda, The Stirling Foundation, @GakenkeDistrict, @HospitalNemba, @GatondeHospital, and @HospitalRuli for supporting this step in advancing palliative care.
