@eveosh @NHSLeader My colleague who teaches about this always state is as, “we are going to talk about micro aggressions, and then we are going to cross out the micro, because they’re not micro.”
@S_SarahH_H@SLT_Francesca It actually takes attention away from what you’re meant to be attending to just to focus on being still. And it can feel like your body or body part might explode because it needs to move.
Please re-Tweet if you agree: Sometimes, #carers need advice, a helping hand, time to rest, or an ear to bend. Sometimes, just a hug because it is their turn to receive care.

@historygeek203 @attentionfixed Hyperactivity in girls is often seen in smaller behaviours - hair twirling, nail biting, cuticle/skin picking, knee bouncing, etc. and being asked to stop is stressful!
@SC_Reviews_Dan @laurfoll @historygeek203 @attentionfixed Reading (or any activity) for hours without breaks is more often referred to as hyperfocus… or a result of time blindness… which teachers should understand as a real issue and not an excuse. Lack of awareness of time/inability to estimate time is a common problem in ADHDers!
@NsikTheSneak @attentionfixed Realize not all ADHDers are the same. Some hyperactivity is small (eg hair twirling, knee bouncing); it’s painful to be perfectly still. Let them stand/move part of the time. Doodling can help listening. Projects of personal interest help motivation, which is impt for ADHDers.
@carolinarough @suzanroze @NsikTheSneak @attentionfixed Do you use any active learning? Even simple things like “think pair share” can be helpful for kids who need some interaction. Or jigsaw - split into groups, assign #s 1,2,3,4 - each group works on part of a problem/? Regroup w/ 1,2,3,4 in each group to put answers together.
“If you have an idea, you need to be running it by communities. Will my research serve you? Will this benefit you . . . “
