"The Sorocaba Court has ordered the City Hall to take the necessary measures to facilitate the transfer of the elephant Sandro from the Quinzinho de Barros Municipal Zoo to the Brazilian Elephant Sanctuary in Chapada dos Guimarães, Mato Grosso.

The decision was signed by Judge Cassiano Gomes Zimmermann of the Public Treasury Court, following a request from the Public Prosecutor's Office for the enforcement of a sentence that had already been confirmed by the São Paulo Court of Justice.✅

According to the ruling, the municipality will have 45 days, from the date of notification, to comply with the court order and allow the animal's transfer process to proceed.

🚨The City Hall must provide access to the sanctuary's technical team, make available veterinary records, examinations, reports, management history, and other information necessary for the preparation, acclimatization, embarkation, and transport of Sandro.

🚨The decision also mandates that the municipality provide operational support during the work of the team responsible for the transfer.

🚨The judge warned that any refusal of access, unjustified delay, omission of technical information, or creation of obstacles to the fulfillment of the order could result in a daily fine of R$ 2,000, limited to R$ 300,000.

🚨Furthermore, the Brazilian Elephant Sanctuary will have 15 days to present an updated schedule with the preparation and transport stages of the animal.

🥱In response to Cruzeiro FM's journalism, the Sorocaba City Hall informs that it has not received any summons from the Public Prosecutor's Office.

🤬As soon as the Municipality is notified of the decision of the Court of Justice of the State of São Paulo (TJSP), it will take all necessary measures to ensure that the elephant Sandro remains in the "Quinzinho de Barros" Municipal Zoological Park, where he has lived since 1982, under the care of veterinarians and biologists."
