My group (https://t.co/0qdM65Beex) is recruiting a new Junior Specialist to support our ongoing efforts in understanding and editing the rumen microbiome towards lower methane production.
Please apply here before Dec 1st 2024 https://t.co/EGCp2xj3gl
🚨Paper alert🚨Finally published my paper titled,”Long-term interaction of metals and phosphate with ferrihydrite in artificial seawater and implications for past and present environments.” Link here: https://t.co/1u4iQfqSfg. (1/3)
Me and 13 great collaborators! Including a fantastic summer student who helped to solve perhaps the most challenging part of the project:
How to isolate acetate (to measure its D/H composition) from a brine 5x saltier than seawater??
Miles below the surface, isolated for millions of years, are saline waters in rock fractures. In these most remote environments, @ElliottMueller8 from @Caltech finds an active carbon cycle. https://t.co/nIyICZFFTJ
Very proud of this work and the wonderful people involved!
We introduce the idea of an isotope-exchange 'clock' that estimates the in situ residence time of acetate via Orbitrap MS and identify an active carbon cycle in the continental subsurface.

Super excited to share our new review article on the diversity and ecology of microbial sulfur metabolism. Please RT and share. @ZhichaoZhou_CHN@patriciatran_ https://t.co/gFVQ7ED1Cq
Please share!
Our lab is recruiting PhD students and/or postdocs for Fall 2025.
Projects may include a combination of fieldwork, isotope geochemistry, and modeling.
Reach out to discuss if interested!
Thrilled to share that I will be joining Boz Wing's group and the rest of the geobiology folks at @CUBoulder as a NASA Postdoctoral Program fellow! We will start a project near and dear to my heart, unraveling how microbial fermentation influences global biogeochemistry.
Dr. Mueller! Thanks to everyone who came - from near and far - to watch me defend my PhD. Grateful for my years at Caltech and excited for what’s ahead.
