IOM Probation Officer working in conjunction w/ @DC_police with those who prolifically offend. I believe passionately in peoples ability to change. Views my own
This week I went to visit a man I work with in @HMP_Exeter who bounced in through the door super excited to tell me he had got onto the next @ProjectTwinning group. The difference projects like this make to peoples self esteem is just amazing. Absolute highlight of my week 🤩
Great bit of multiagency work today with @DC_Police whereby a community resolution has been agreed for an outstanding offence. It meets the needs of the victim & enables a man on our IOM scheme to remain out of court & complete the training he is now engaged with #rehabilitation
Huge thank you to @ChangingTunesSW who visited today for some African drumming! All part of our Black history month activities as prisoners learnt about African music and playing the drums 🪘 #changingtunes#bhm
@ChrisStacey We are lucky actually that our ACO @arscott_louise has prioritised trying to source mobile phones for us to issue when needed, but this isn’t the case for all areas. We had a short period where the prisons issued phones on release during the pandemic but this stopped a year ago.
Very recently, a man I worked with lost his life to suicide. The aftermath of this for those who knew him has been devastating. We need to continue to encourage open, honest conversation if we are to reduce deaths to suicide. #SuicidePreventionMonth@ThePetesDragons@samaritans
A snap from one of my supervision sessions yesterday where we ‘walked & talked’. This is a case who finds it difficult to talk within the confines of an office, but here he spoke openly about his past trauma. It’s inspiring what people can achieve when you listen to their needs.
@Insp_Pebs @Ex_arv_sgt @CidTorquay@DC_Police We were talking about this at work yesterday, discussing if it could be any of our young ones who had been unlawfully at large and therefore not seen for a while. We weren’t able to identify anyone from our caseloads, but we are keeping an ear out.
I was part of the IMB for several years whilst at university and it taught me more than either of my degrees. I couldn’t recommend it enough for a multitude of reasons, it was truly eye opening and led me to a job I love ❤️

Trauma Informed Care is not “Tell me all about your trauma” or “what happened to you?”
Trauma Informed Care is assuming that everyone carries trauma and being sensitive to how that may affect them.
You don’t need to know what the trauma is to be trauma informed.
