I’ve spent a lifetime around bowling, and a lot of these modifications are built from real experience in gyms, schools, and adapted settings. Sometimes a simple setup tweak completely changes access, confidence, and success for a student.

⚽️ KEEP IT ON THE DECK TRAINING SESSION ⚽️
Nobody is saying coaches need to build an endless library of practices. But for player development, introducing purposeful creativity inside sessions is essential. When players repeatedly experience the exact same practice with the exact same solutions, the cognitive challenge decreases and football is a game where intelligent, adaptable players consistently excel.
This is our Keepitonthedeck twist on a traditional 4v4 plus 2 possession practice 👇
By adding outside dribbling triggers, players are constantly challenged to make decisions between passing and driving with the ball, while defenders must react quicker, press with greater intensity and recognise transition moments earlier.
A modern possession practice designed to develop awareness, scanning, dribbling and decision making within a competitive 4v4 plus 2 setup.
Players score 1 point for every 8 consecutive passes, encouraging quality circulation, intelligent support angles and constant movement off the ball.
The unique Keepitonthedeck twist changes the dynamic completely 👇
At any moment, a player in possession can dribble around one of the 6 outside poles and complete a pass to score an additional 3 bonus points. Defenders can prevent the action, creating continuous transition moments, pressing triggers and high level decision making under pressure.
This encourages players to:
✅ Recognise moments to dribble
✅ Scan before receiving
✅ Break pressure individually
✅ Protect possession under pressure
✅ Understand risk versus reward
✅ Create overloads and support angles
✅ React quickly during transitions

Love seeing the progression of my players during 1-2-1 sessions. Brilliant first session with Oli yesterday, and looking forward to the next one already!

It’s four square with a twist! You can move your hoops after you strike the ball but before the next player strikes it. After a round is won, return the hoops to first position, rotate if needed, and play again! Have fun!

⚠️ Tight spaces don't improve technique. They expose it.
If a player can't control the ball cleanly in a 2x2 square, a bigger pitch doesn't fix that.
Train tight. Fix the touch. Then give them space.
