A woman and two men who identify as trans have been charged in Cincinnati for the brutal, violent death of a 7-year-old boy.

The child was found bound with duct tape in a closet. He had injuries consistent with being beaten, held underwater and burned.

Neighbors were completely unaware a child even lived in the home, suggesting the boy was completely isolated from the outside world while being tortured to death.

Kaitlin Evans, the woman charged, is the boy's biological mother. It's unclear what relationship she has with those two trans people, "Nessa" Keaney and "Kirby" Rankin, whom she allowed around her child.

THEORY:

The reason we Olds don't give a crap about the food struggles of the Youngs, and the reason why the Youngs don't get why the Olds don't feel sorry for them, is as follows:

We Olds grew up eating Swanson TV Dinners and a bland, dried out pot roast and canned green beans on Sundays, so when we moved out of the house and had to live on ramen and microwave burritos for weeks at a time, it was no big deal.

The Youngs, OTOH, grew up in the Golden Age of take out of all kinds, with their parents buying high quality meals of all kinds of cuisines, and with all-natural cooking options of incredible quality from places like Whole Foods in abundance, so ramen and microwave burritos feel like a HUGE step down.

My theory. It could be right, it could be wrong, but it's mine.

Here, a basketball game was forfeited after multiple injuries. Sports have categories for a reason; identity doesn't eliminate the need for categories.

Clinical narcissistic personality disorder is relatively uncommon, yet the label is now one of the most casually used words in modern dating conversations.

People who are actually dealing with a high-level narcissist rarely post about it publicly while the relationship is still active. The control tends to be too tight for open complaints to stay online for long.

Dr. Cali Estes pushes back on the flood of young women calling their boyfriends narcissists, arguing that real cases usually involve such complete mental, physical or financial dominance that the person would not feel safe leaving a public video up.

Overusing a clinical term empties it of meaning and makes it harder to recognize the rarer, more dangerous patterns when they actually appear. Research puts the prevalence of narcissistic personality disorder well under 2 percent in the general population, yet social media makes the label feel far more common than the data support. The mismatch creates both false alarms and dangerous under-reactions.

When every hard relationship is given a clinical name, we lose the ability to distinguish ordinary human friction from something truly destructive. Precision in language is the first form of self-protection.
