Oggi mi sento meglio. Sono stati giorni difficili e allo stesso tempo sono ottimista e cerco sempre di vedere il positivo in tutto. Ringrazio i medici cubani che, come mi è stato confermato dai medici italiani, sono stati molto bravi e tempestivi nella diagnosi e nella scelta delle cure iniziali.

Partirò da Cuba il 4 settembre con un’aeroambulanza i cui costi verranno coperti dalla compagnia assicurativa con la quale ho stipulato una polizza prima della partenza.

P.S. Da anni ho deciso di “sfruttare” gli spazi mediatici che ho a disposizione per denunciare l’Olocausto palestinese, che va avanti anche se molti giornali si voltano dall’altra parte. Ne approfitto dunque per raccontarvi quello che mi dicono negli ospedali a Cuba, ovvero che molti dei medici e degli infermieri palestinesi uccisi in Palestina negli ultimi tre anni avevano studiato e si erano formati qui.

Grazie a tutti per l’affetto che è superiore a quello che mi sarei mai immaginato.

Solidarietà a Cibo

Ci sono persone che scelgono di rispondere all’odio con la creatività, alla violenza con i colori, alle svastiche con la bellezza. Pier Paolo Spinazzè, Cibo, da anni fa esattamente questo: cancella dai muri i simboli del razzismo e del neofascismo e li trasforma in immagini capaci di restituire quei luoghi alla città.

Il giorno di Ferragosto, a San Giovanni Lupatoto, Cibo è stato aggredito. Secondo quanto denunciato, un uomo lo avrebbe trascinato via dal tavolo, spinto a terra, distrutto il telefono e strappato la maglietta, provocandogli lesioni. Nella violenza sarebbe rimasto coinvolto anche il figlio di appena tre anni.

Non è qualcosa che possiamo liquidare come una semplice lite. È un fatto gravissimo, soprattutto perché colpisce una persona che da anni si impegna pubblicamente contro il razzismo e il neofascismo.

E ancora più inquietante è il clima di intimidazione che sarebbe proseguito dopo l’aggressione, con la comparsa di un adesivo contro Cibo nei pressi della sua abitazione.

Questo è squadrismo: il tentativo di intimidire, aggredire e mettere a tacere chi decide di contrastare l’odio.

A Cibo e alla sua famiglia va tutta la mia solidarietà e la mia vicinanza. Non devono essere lasciati soli.

La risposta alla violenza fascista deve essere ancora più antifascismo, più democrazia, più libertà.

Cibo ha scelto di non arrendersi. E noi dobbiamo stare al suo fianco.

Una svastica cancellata non è una provocazione: è un atto di civiltà. Difendere chi la cancella significa difendere la libertà di tutti.
