Today for #16DaysofActivism we're featuring ICJ Malaysia Commissioner Dato' @Ambiga_S, who calls on governments to abide by their duty to protect women from violence, especially during the #COVID19 pandemic.
I continue to follow closely the situation in Thailand. I reiterate my call to Thai authorities to refrain from using force against peaceful protesters. Peaceful protest is not a crime but a democratic means for people to express their grievances and demands.
Here's @amnesty's line on tonight's shocking scenes in Bangkok.
Alarming that a Thai police spokesman said dye was used "to mark protesters for legal action.”
This is indiscriminate & puts ppl at risk: https://t.co/IvFzTQ0eT9

"The excessive force used to disperse tonight’s peaceful protests was unwarranted and in no way complied with the principles of legality, necessity, and proportionality" https://t.co/PSqW6lZCgu
If you are at the protest site and you are injured, you can seek medical help at the following locations or call 1669:
1. Lotus Rama 1
2. Stadium One
3. Sam Yan Mitr Town
4. Pratunam Intersection
5. Chalerm Phao Intersection

The Thai police have arrested 9 protest leaders over the past 24 hours. So much for the government promise to listen to their demands. It seems it is trying to lock up anyone with a leadership role in the protest movement. Government also insists monarchy cannot be discussed.
