We’ve already lived through a few rounds of “coding is over in six months”. Maybe Elon is early. Maybe not. Doesn’t really matter. The useful layer in every version of this is the same:

ambiguity → spec → working thing → it was wrong → revise

That’s the craft now.

If your job is typing programs, that skill is getting cheaper by the week.

What isn't: taste after the tenth rewrite. Somebody has to reject the confident garbage, keep the system coherent, and be there when it blows up in prod. That work got renamed, not deleted.

Got hacked yesterday. The link came from inside Claude chat.

I was installing a transcription app. Claude sent the download link, and I pasted the command into the terminal. It all looked legit.

It wasn't though.

It was a copycat site bundling malware. It ran instantly, tried to take everything from me.

Nothing sensitive got out. So I wiped the laptop and rebuilt clean.

But here's the scary part.

Restoring from the backup, I found a poisoned SKILL.md for Claude Code.

It looked exactly like my own writing style guide.

But buried inside:

it had instructions to silently re-download the malware and steal my credentials every time the AI loaded it.

If I'd restored that one file, my new clean laptop is owned on day one.

What saved me:

I read every skill, hook, and config file before letting the AI touch them.

Two lessons here:

AI assistants will hand you links they never verified. Check before you paste.

And AI agent files are executable code now, disguised as notes. You have to read them.

Agents developed their own dialect for PRs and as they're becoming more and more ubiquitous eventually humans will end adopting those terms too. That only IF any human still writes his own PRs.

Many of us are now using coding agents everyday and, it would seem, GitHub pull requests are developing a bit of an accent as a result.

An analysis of 47,000 PRs found a distinct vocabulary cluster dominated by words like “load-bearing,” “quietly,” “latent,” and “genuine" that grew from 1% of the corpus in January to 45% today.

The project samples 100 PRs a day, filters out bot and agent accounts, and groups descriptions into eight different writing styles based on word choice. For those of us familiar with their work, this cluster certainly sounds like the "load-bearing" vocab of LLMs.
