Excited to start my @BBSRC #SARIC funded PhD grazing trial today at @BangorUni's Henfaes Research Farm. We'll be grazing Welsh store rams on either a grass-clover or multispecies #herbal ley to measure #livestock productivity and greenhouse gas emissions. Keen for results! 🐏🌿☀

Busy day with a large team @BUEnvironment @ADASGroup at Henfaes! Applying slurry +/- separation ond grass regrowth, monitoring gaseous losses, N & P dynamics, and ultimately learning how to help max out the value of this brilliant resource on livestock farms 🐄🐮

There was also a short talk about herbal leys. Lambs on trial grew faster in the spring on herbal leys than on a grass-clover sward. There were also benefits in terms of macro and micronutrient supply in the forage
