Ever since I was a little boy, I knew I wanted to log into Microsoft Authenticator 35 times a day, create deliverables for key stakeholders, and circle back offline.
When I’m at home, I can’t fathom drinking more than one can of Diet Coke in a single setting. But when I’m at a restaurant? 3 glasses, minimum. Keep it flowing, baby. Mama needs her drinky drink
At the family barbecue my cousin’s husband kept joking that “period mood swings are just an excuse to be a bitch.” His 13-year-old daughter finally said, “Dad, when you have a kidney stone you cry and everyone brings you ice packs. When Mom has endometriosis she still packs your lunch. Sit down.” The table went quiet so fast you could hear the burgers sizzle.
I can’t wrap my head around an economy where nursing homes cost enough to bankrupt families, yet the aides caring for our grandparents still rely on food banks. Or where daycare can consume an entire parent’s paycheck, while the people providing that care still can’t earn a living wage and need a second job. Something about that math just doesn’t add up.
I'm about back to my pre pregnancy size 4 months pp which is nuts (I really thought it was going to take forever because of how big I got pregnant) and I've been accused of only being able to achieve that because I have amazing parents and in laws who help
But the help is so I can sit on my ass and work, which I've been doing from home since 3 weeks postpartum (financially I had no choice). I have gone to the gym maybe 15 times since giving birth. The weight loss is in the weight lifting sessions before and during pregnancy, and in the morning walks that I fight for every single day
No one is helping me pull my ass out of bed at 5 am sleep deprived after a night of nursing and calming her down to pack a bottomless bag of baby shit, get her in the car, strap my pumps to my chest, pull over when we're almost there to fill up a fresh bottle of milk, unpack the stroller, and start pushing by 7:30 am before the heat becomes unbearable
No one is helping me roll her up the hills sweating and hungry
I thought postpartum was going to be the end of me but it has shown me a side of myself that I didn't know existed and I am SO happy to know it now
And I am not saying postpartum isn't hard. It is by far the most physically and mentally challenging season of my life and I understand why so many women struggle and I understand what its like not to recognize your own body. But I do think that the genetics argument when it comes to fitness is silly if the person is clearly very dedicated to fitness
I don't understand how we let "buying a house" turn into a 30 year debt sentence that requires two incomes, perfect credit, and a small miracle. Our grandparents did this on a single factory wage with a handshake. We need a PhD and three co-signers.
"musical romance about a taxidermist who falls in love with the man she wants to stuff and turn into her human specimen" sounds insane. when do tickets go on sale
If your girl looks better without you (as in before you, after you, or when she’s not around you) than it means you and you alone are the drain on her beauty and spirit.
HR announced that anyone who used their phone during work hours would lose 2% of their monthly bonus for every offense. A Gen Z coworker got caught five times in one week and lost 10%. He just nodded and said nothing.
Yesterday, the company Wi-Fi went down for three hours. Every manager kept asking him to use his phone hotspot to keep the office running. He did. Then he submitted an invoice for internet services with the note:
