A beautiful sunny Autumn day for the Level 5 @UniWestminster Food tour of Soho. The Sociology of food, taste and consumption through a journey of bakeries and coffee.
@mermhart Really enjoying your new book (in audio format). You have a skill of bringing warmth and humour to the otherwise dark and serious despair of chronic illness. Thank you- it’s a comforting listen. #Ihaven’tbeenentirelyhonestwithyoh
@JackieKayPoet@BBC1@bbcarts@bbcstudios Absolutely amazing Jackie- it made me feel incredibly emotional thinking about all the chapters of your life and how they come together- and how much you make me think of Ingrid too xx
@criminographer I’m so so so sad to hear this. The pain you’ve had to bear is so cruel. What a delightful child and thankful she lived with such joy. X
Amazing day @TheSocReview #UndiscipliningII Highlight for me was @McknightUlla workshop called Materialising Affective Beacons: Singing trauma and calling race. Building on work of @AcademicDiary and @spatialmutation
💫Outstanding sessions at #UndiscipliningII yesterday incl beautiful curation by @McknightUlla on song, race and reproductive violence, young co-researchers and @CaitlinFNunn on migration, ancient objects and museums and @JackieKayPoet on poetry, love, loss and politics 💫
@Nigella_Lawson Nigella, since you introduced me to this anchovy and mascarpone combo I now actually use this for loads of dishes- mushroom stroganoff, pretty much any pasta dish, sauce for chicken…. It’s a heavenly and simple combo.
@princessjack This really resonates. During periods of chronic illness I know and feel that exercise, fresh air, movement etc is what my body and mind needs but I just CAN’T physically do it. It’s cruel. Solidarity to you.
@DrBEvans Hope you’re on Beth. I have had it 4 times now, and each time it’s taken at least 10 days. Everyone v different etc, but there seems to be a widespread misconception it’s all over in a few days and back to work we go.
And I will say it again, Sociology is one of the most important academic disciplines. It teaches you to be critical and to question everything.
And that is why it is under attack.
Solidarity to colleagues @SociologyGold
Such an excellent day in Leith presenting at the Scottish Smellscapes event with the University of Edinburgh @WillTullett @_NinaJM. Thanks to Xuelei Huang and Isabelle Darmon for the invite.
What a joy to be part of The Smell of Scotland project Workshop 2 today. Thanks @WillTullett, Xuelei Huang, @EmilyJSFalconer, @marisawlsn, Isabelle Darmon and all the other participants for the fab activities and papers!
