This opinion piece that just came out is the culmination of many months of great discussions with some incredible scientists in the Tfh field. We hope it sparks lots of discussion! @LintermanLab @carovinuesa@stutangye @BaumjohannLab @N_Fazilleau@TrendsImmuno
Happy #NationalComingOutDay! Coming out is a process, not an event. Everyone’s journey is different and at a different stage, but they all take courage 💪🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
In our first #TakeUpSpaceTuesday post, our Chief of Community Development, Anicca Harriot (@13adh13) wrote “Taking up space is more than pulling up a seat to the table, it is building your own table and inviting others to share a potluck with you.” https://t.co/dOU9TY0uOO

Hi folks, We’re Anti-Racist Science (AntiRa), a group of scientists working to respond, rebut, and/or retract scientific racism wherever it may occur. We’re getting ourselves off the ground, but give a follow to keep tabs on what we’re doing!
This week my lab had a discussion about our role in improving the academic climate for underrepresented scientists. Below are the actions we will take to make our ideals reality. To my academic peers: initiate similar conversations; our work can promote change.
Many scientists (myself included) have no idea what it's like to be black in a primarily white field, but ignorance is no excuse for inaction. Instead, listen to those who do experience racism in STEM. Then, do the work to make our field more inclusive.

STEM professions are not immune to the racism that is pervasive in our society. To ignore this is to enable such racism to continue. Take tomorrow. Educate. Act. Heal. #ShutDownSTEM#ShutDownAcademia#Strike4BlackLives

@ProjectHalfDone @AcademicChatter As a student, learning objectives are my favorite thing to see on a professors slides. Helps make the lecture more cohesive and focused on important points and helps students understand the larger take home messages!
So proud of our Immunobiology Working Group for Diversity and Inclusion students for introducing preferred pronouns on our name tags for our graduate student recruitment day at @YaleIBIO! Way to go 👍🏽#DiversityandInclusion#genderdiversity
