After careful consideration, I am confident that the single most clinically effective way to quash any potential interest in literature, reading or poetry is the GCSE English Literature syllabus. A laser-guided method for taking something joyous and making it hateful.
Been thinking about this poem a lot recently, one of my favourites and I've never fully appreciated how deeply sad it is despite its outward humour. Elizabeth Bishop does not miss.
