@Emilyosheaeduc Thank you @Emilyosheaeduc and @jeremy_smith7 for spreading the word about our Food Education and Sustainability Training #FEAST. We need more people like you to help us reach out to schools and teachers about this excellent program. Thanks again.
@OliviaD6868 It's amazing what can be done with plastic when thinking creatively. It would be a great activity with the students to use rubbish and reuse it in creative ways within the classroom e.g., milk cartons for plant pots and bird feeders.
An amazing company created by a Sydney based farther and son that produces sunglasses made from recycled plastic. This is great inspiration for students to see other Australian children making a difference #SDG12#educ4750#UoNTeach https://t.co/qS4AB6Y0i7
@SarahPrice720 When every student is involved and the whole school community is supporting the community project, it is more likely to make a lasting impact. The community project is also more likely to continue for years and years to come.
As stated in the article sustainable efforts by teachers often don’t make as much of an impact as their efforts are disconnected from one another. An integrated sustainable whole-school project could help solve this issue #SDG12#UoNTeach
Neus Evans (2019) paper on Teacher Education and Sustainability is really insightful to the power teachers have on future generations knowledge and understanding of sustainability. I think this pairs really nicely with the concept of 21st century skills.

@KempTyla Well-being check ins are so important to incorporate in your every day classroom routine! It’s a great way to gauge how to best support each student every day. Even creating strategies with the children on what they can do if they aren’t feeling so good.
The plastic police @bags2benches is an inspiring program that not only supports recycling within schools but provides quality educational resources about the effects of single use plastic pollution. #UoNTeach#SDG12 https://t.co/x90447zCBV
@shailehwilliams@bags2benches It's so important for students to be able to see that the work they are putting into recycling is making an impact and can be created into a bench for them to use.
@BritneyBaker21 It is a great resource. It could even inspire students to want to get in contact with construction sites and recycle their waste materials into art. #SDG12
Did you know that 40% of Australia’s waste come from construction and demolition. This article has some great graphs and data about the amount of landfill in Australia. #SDG12#educ4750#UoNTeach https://t.co/GgoprSuDsL
Informative resource from the UN website about #SDG12 This could be a great way to integrate numeracy into a lesson about sustainable consumption. How else could this be integrated into the classroom? #educ4750#UoNTeach
@BritneyBaker21 Picture books are often so under used for stage 3 students are more heavily used in younger years. But they are such a engaging resource for stage 3!
What a great community resource! This could be a great school excursion to learn about responsible production of food and composting #SDG12#educ4750#UoNTeach
Community Garden – Hunter Multicultural Communities https://t.co/zuvyZcMFtc
Community Gardens is an invaluable resource in our community. Not only is there so much knowledge around gardening and sustainability but the experts and the knowledge is local #SDG11#EDUC4750#UoNTeach
@BritneyBaker21 I believe children can start helping to cook as a toddler. Kids love to help their families cook, the younger kids will need a lot more support and guidance.
@BritneyBaker21 It’s so disappointing how much food goes to waste! This issue also relates to #SDG12 responsible consumption and production. Schools could compost food scraps and then use this to help their school gardens to grow fruits and veggies.
@BritneyBaker21 Students would love this activity, incorporating such a relevant social media platform in their learning. These videos could be shown to other classes to educate them on global hunger.
What a great initiative to encourage Australian schools to recycle soft plastics! This can also relate to #SDG12 responsible consumption and production. In 2021 they collected over 6035kg of soft plastics. #educ4750#UoNTeach
