Muhammad Muharram is a wheelchair user living in #Gaza. He speaks about the terrors of daily life.
During conflict, people with disabilities face life-threatening challenges—difficulty in evacuating, shelters out of reach, and little access to healthcare and even food, water, and toilets.
WHO calls for access to health services for all, including vulnerable people who may need specialised care.
More equitable access to health care is needed to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
In 2021, 11% of the world's population lived in countries that spent less than US$ 50 per person per year versus the average $4000 spent on health per person in high-income countries.

Today @WHO delivered trauma and emergency care supplies to European Gaza Hospital and Nasser Medical Complex in southern #Gaza to cover the needs of 4500 patients. So much more is needed.
The very intense fighting is making it increasingly difficult to run any health operations. This was the first delivery mission since 29 November.
Nowhere is safe.
We are extremely concerned about thousands of patients, and health and care workers.
The only way to protect them is a ceasefire. NOW.
While your health worker should be able to suggest education programs, physical and psychological therapies, mobility aids, medicines and other options to manage low back pain, there are several ways you can improve your function and wellbeing https://t.co/rrk1DhWVrL
🚨In response to the rising need for assistive technology in emergencies, WHO has developed #TraininginAssistiveProducts emergency modules. These have been used to support WHO's work in NorthWest Syria & Ukraine. Open access to those modules coming soon! https://t.co/PNG5asVpLO

"We call on you to ensure unfettered access to deliver humanitarian aid to the civilians of #Gaza;
We call on Hamas to release the hostages;
We call on Israel to restore supplies of water, electricity and fuel;
We call on both sides to abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law;
We call for attacks on health care to stop, and for patients, health facilities, health infrastructure and health workers – as well as aid workers – to be protected.
And we continue to call for an end to this conflict, to prevent further deaths of civilians and further damage to Gaza’s hospitals and health facilities"-@DrTedros #UNGA
If you have #diabetes, get regular screening for complications.
This includes screening for:
🔎 kidney disease
🔎 regular eye exams
🔎 foot assessment
Early detection is important! But many people with diabetes still do not have access to essential care.
