What's frustrating me the most about the AI world and market right now by far is the lack of a hopefully vision for a better future.
The best we get is prophetic doomsaying as tech icons and social media ring their bell about replacement, automation, and layoffs.
I am not seeing any vision for a better path forward. This technology is clearly already transformative in ways that can benefit so many... How then should we strive to improve people's lives in meaningful ways? How should we augment science and other parts of society? How can we correct other processes that can't accelerate at the same place - like regulation, drug discovery, etc.?
What can we do to ensure this technology doesn't lead to growing disparities in wealth enriching only a small privileged group and pricing out others?
The economic incentives are not favorable to focusing on these questions, sure, but even if we focus on the disruption narrative - so what are we going to do to mitigate that disruption and it's negative effects... Nothing? Really?
It seems like these people just want to have their names etched in history as having "seen it coming". In the best case this messaging sounds like hyperbolic noise, and in the worst case it creates resistance and conflict. At no point or level is it helpful.
If you keep telling people they will be replaced... That their work - which gives them meaning and the means to live - will be made redundant or eliminated... What exactly do you expect will happen if that were to come true? How will that end with anything less than mass revolt against thosw who foretold the meteor and did nothing but beckon it closer to strike the earth?
The Delta and Unity Catalog extensions in the latest DuckDB release come with a fresh set of features and have shed their experimental labels. In today's blog post, Ben Fleis walks you through the key improvements:
✍️ You can now write Delta tables with DuckDB. Multiple inserts within a transaction produce a single atomic version in the Delta table.
🤝 The Unity Catalog unlocks multi-writer access. DuckDB and other clients such as Spark can now perform writes alongside each other with the catalog handling concurrency control.
⏪ You can use the coolest feature of data lake formats: time travel. This lets you query any Delta table at a specific historical version. Thanks to incremental snapshot loading, this is fast even across large Delta logs.

Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes can alter brain health through hyperglycemia.
A recent study showed that age- and sex-matched individuals with T1D had more severely impaired executive function than those with T2D.
Individuals with T1D are typically diagnosed decades earlier, so high and variable glucose levels can significantly impact brain health over time.
Goal: Improve glycemic control as early as possible.
🚨 Living with Type 1 Diabetes: A Relentless Journey to Thrive
Diagnosed with an irreversible chronic disease as a child, I've made it my mission to find solutions—not just to survive, but to THRIVE. Type 1 Diabetes offers no breaks, no days off. Yet, it uniquely empowers you to master your metabolism like no other condition. With 24/7 glucose and insulin monitoring, and ability to dorectly.manipulate both, you hold the reins...and this burden became an opportunity. My life’s mission is to discover solutions for all T1D patients to live boldly and thrive...a mission that started in myself.
Grateful to @nicknorwitz for amplifying T1D awareness! #Type1Diabetes
If you haven't heard of them, @Levicure2020 are creating a treatment that delays the onset of Type 1 using GABA, DPP-4 inhibitors and Omeprazole.
They just published their paper on "how type 1 diabetes works and what you can do to counter it" .
