Laughable. The EHRC have only reflected the gender-critical view. They are unfit for purpose. Fortunately there is no time for this in the remainder of the legislative programme of the present government. Then they will be gone.
As words like ‘woke’ litter the public discourse and people are stirred to take positions on all sides of the so-called ‘culture war’, @EmpLawBen outlines the law on protected beliefs and sets out what employers should be doing. #protectedbelief#discrimination#emplaw
The tl;dr of it is that this decision will make it calculating holiday pay for workers with atypical working patterns more onerous and in some cases more expensive, unless and until Parliament legislates (which is not going to be on the top of the list, given general chaos).
My hot take on the Supreme Court’s decision in Harpur Trust is that it shows the trend of judicial conservatism that I’ve seen some (much cleverer people than me) discussing, with courts much less willing to take “radical” interpretations of legislation.

The Supreme Court has published its long-anticipated decision in Harpur Trust v Brazel today, confirming that paid holiday for part-year employees/workers on permanent contracts must not be pro-rated. @DarrenIsaacs and @EmpLawBen outline the decision. https://t.co/oOBMjHeRu7
This week the UK government announced that the majority of remaining Covid restrictions will be lifted in England over the coming weeks. @EmpLawBen outlines the headline points for employers. #covid19#ukemploymentlaw#covidrestrictions https://t.co/iPqbGZFhFK
Excited to finally be able to say that @GQLittler, London arm of @Littler, is opening a Dublin office today, with partner Niall Pelly joining the firm.
Ireland, and Dublin, is very close to my heart so I'm thrilled that we're expanding into Ireland. Excited to work with Niall and visit the Dublin office (when we're allowed to!).
