Ibn Battuta (1304-1368) was a Muslim Berber-Moroccan scholar and explorer who travelled the Old World. His travels totaled 117,000 km (72,000 miles). That's further than any other pre-modern person went. This map shows his route. What a life! Source: https://t.co/9gfx7bsZTn
Very few towns have their medieval character and sea walls well-preserved and intact like Monemvasia.

Arch of Septimius Severus in the ancient city of Leptis Magna, located in present-day Libya.
This impressive four-sided triumphal arch (tetrapylon), very similar to the one in Cáparra (Cáceres, Spain), was built to celebrate the military victories of Emperor Septimius Severus.
Leptis Magna was the emperor's birthplace and, under his reign, it was transformed into a splendid imperial city with majestic structures like this one.
The arch is strategically located at the intersection of the city's two main axes.
After the fall of the empire, the city was abandoned and covered by desert sands, which allowed its ruins to be exceptionally well preserved until their rediscovery in the 20th century.

A flower shop hidden inside one of Brussels’ Art Nouveau gems.
This is the former Chemiserie Niguet at 13 Rue Royale, designed in 1896 by Belgian architect Paul Hankar as a shirt shop. Its mahogany storefront, flowing glass, and intricate ironwork are rare survivors of Brussels’ Art Nouveau commercial architecture. Restored according to the original plans, the space now houses Daniel Ost’s flower shop — turning a historic shopfront into a living display of wood, glass, metal, and blooms.
