Sad news from Tirana today.

Ismail Kadare, a literary giant and a cherished voice of Albania, has passed away at 88.

His powerful literary voice, translated into 45 languages, resonated across Europe and beyond, showcasing the rich and diverse Albanian culture worldwide. His sharp, insightful and yet benevolent prose mirrored the complexities of Albania's history and lore.

Our deepest condolences to his loved ones and all who admired his genius.

Kadare's legacy will endure.
