Sepse kudo ku janë shqiptarët, aty është edhe #Shqipëria. Honoured and moved to take part in the opening of the #exhibition “Shared Heritage”, organised at the Centre for Open Dialogue, and dedicated to the life and legacy of our own #Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, whom the world knows as Mother Teresa.

A #Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a saint of the Catholic Church, Mother #Teresa’s story is cherished in many places and by many peoples. Yet, while her legacy is shared across continents, it ultimately belongs to all humanity. Born into an Albanian family and carrying that heritage proudly throughout her life, she is far more than a revered historical figure. She remains the #Mother of small acts of kindness done with great love, a timeless reminder that what unites us is always greater than what distinguishes us.

The date of 5 September holds a special significance. It marks the day Mother Teresa passed away and, fittingly, the day on which she was later canonised by the Catholic Church. It is also observed as the International Day of #Charity, following a United Nations General Assembly resolution adopted in 2012, with Albania among its principal co-sponsors. Few tributes could be more fitting for a woman who made compassion, service and charity the work of her life.

I thank the Embassy of India in Albania and COD for organising this beautiful exhibition and for bringing Mother Teresa’s extraordinary story, as well as her enduring message of love, dignity and humanity, closer to the #Albanian public.

As Albania and India celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations, it is particularly meaningful to see Mother Teresa once again serving as a bridge between our peoples. Her life reminds us that some legacies transcend borders, generations and nations, continuing to inspire humanity long after their time.

Today’s judgment against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi is deeply disappointing.

When I met President Thaçi in The Hague, we shared the conviction that justice would ultimately prevail. That conviction remains unchanged today. This process does not end here. The legal battle must continue on appeal, through every legal avenue available. Throughout this process, they can count on the unwavering support of Albanians.

I stand with Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, and with their families.

The Albanian people do not forget the struggles or the sacrifices of their sons. History did not begin today. Nor does it end with this judgment.

We welcome the European Parliament's resolution adopted today in #Strasbourg on the findings and recommendations of the Special Committee on the European #Democracy Shield, which recognizes that the Western Balkans are on the frontline of foreign information manipulation and interference - FIMI. The message of the @Europarl_EN is clear: strengthening democratic resilience in candidate countries means strengthening #Europe itself.

This fully resonates with the discussions we hosted in Albania last July, at our conference on FIMI, which brought together partner countries, European institutions, experts, media and civil society to address the growing challenges posed by disinformation, hybrid threats, malign influence and the misuse of new technologies.

The core message of the Conference in #Tirana remains as relevant today as it was then: democratic resilience is no longer only a national concern; it is an essential part of Europe’s collective security. The conclusion of the EP that resilience against FIMI must be strengthened across the entire European space, including in candidate countries, is therefore right, timely and welcome. Europe’s democratic resilience can only be as strong as its weakest link.

Delighted to welcome today His Royal Highness Prince Naif bin Abdullah bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the accompanying #Saudi business delegation.

Building on our excellent political relations, our countries are now looking to further deepen their economic partnership, encourage greater private investment from Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region, and foster concrete business-to-business cooperation.

Thank you, @arditrada for putting the record straight at @TiranaExaminer with a single sentence. I would only paraphrase it in the form of a question:

How on earth can the absence of evidence be transformed into proof that the evidence was successfully concealed, when no one, despite repeated efforts, extensive investigations, has ever been able to find even a shred of such evidence?

This includes investigations during which the lead Prosecutor himself publicly thanked #Albania for its excellent cooperation.

And then comes another incomprehensible part of all: how does concealment allegedly work 100% for one specific issue, but not for any of the others alleged that were investigated at the same time?

As Eugène Ionesco might have observed, this is where absurdity enters the stage.

At some point, the absence of evidence must be allowed to remain exactly what it is: an absence of evidence. For the simple reason that there is no evidence to find.

September 11, 2001, is a day the world will never forget.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken without warning. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed, the communities left grieving, but also the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger to save lives.

The pain of that day was felt far beyond the shores of the United States.

It was felt deeply in #Albania.

For the #Albanian people, the United States has never been simply a friend or an ally. America has stood beside Albania at defining moments in our national journey, in defence of freedom, democracy, human dignity, and our place among the free nations of the world. The bond between our two peoples is rooted in shared values, mutual respect, strategic partnership and a friendship that has endured through difficult times.

Today, we honour those we lost and stand with their families and with the #American people. We pay tribute to the extraordinary resilience of a nation that, in the face of unspeakable tragedy, chose to stand together and defend the values that unite us.

We also reaffirm our shared commitment to confronting terrorism, violent extremism, and hatred wherever they threaten peace, freedom, and human life.

Albania stood with the United States on that dark day and we will continue to stand together in defence of freedom, peace, and our shared democratic values.

The images from Ratko Mladić’s funeral yesterday in Belgrade were shocking.

Ratko Mladić was a convicted war criminal. He was responsible for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He died while serving a life sentence for the Srebrenica genocide and other crimes.

The elements of official support and the presence of some senior Serbian officials at the funeral are deeply regrettable. They demonstrate a failure to confront a dark chapter in Europe’s recent history and contradict the values underpinning Serbia’s path towards the European Union.

Our thoughts are with all the victims of the crimes committed in the countries of former Yugoslavia.

Albania condemns the glorification of Ratko Mladić, a convicted war criminal who died while serving a life sentence for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. We join the European Union, its leaders and all those who have rightly condemned the manner in which he was honoured and commemorated in #Serbia.

Our position has been clear and remains consistent: the glorification of convicted war criminals, the denial of #genocide and historical revisionism run contrary to the values upon which the #European project is built and undermine the spirit of reconciliation, cooperation and good-neighbourly relations that are essential to a shared future in the Western Balkans.
Such acts do more than reopen the wounds of the past. They dishonour victims and survivors, erode trust between communities and people.

#Albania firmly believes that genuine reconciliation can only be built on #truth, #accountability, respect for victims and survivors, and a shared commitment to ensuring that the crimes of the past are never repeated.

Our region has a future to build together. That future must be European: rooted in peace, reconciliation, cooperation, mutual respect and unwavering respect for the memory of those who suffered from the horrors of war.

#Austria remains one of Albania’s closest and most valued partners, with a longstanding commitment to Albania’s EU accession and to advancing the European perspective of the #WesternBalkans.

A useful meeting today with Major General Jasper Jeffers, Commander of the International Stabilization Force.

We discussed the importance of Albania’s participation in the #ISF, which translates into a tangible contribution on the ground one of the core components of our foreign policy: advancing peace and security and standing ready to contribute where international efforts can make a difference.

As a founding member of the Board of Peace, #Albania is determined to play its part alongside the United States and other international partners in supporting efforts to create the conditions for lasting security, stability and peace in the Middle East.

Our participation in the ISF reflects Albania’s readiness to contribute concretely to an initiative aimed at safeguarding the security and dignity of the people of #Gaza, facilitating humanitarian assistance and reconstruction, and helping create the conditions for a credible and sustainable political horizon and a better life for all.

📍Dublin -- The Irish Presidency @Ireland2026eu promised to keep #enlargement high on its agenda, and they are delivering.

I was pleased to participate in the informal meeting of EU Ministers for European Affairs, at a dedicated session on accelerating the #accession process.

Every time we sit around the EU table, we are reminded that what separates us from a permanent seat is not ambition, hard work, or continued delivery. It is time.

My key messages:

• For anything to succeed in a process as demanding as EU accession, strong political will is indispensable. We are advancing on every issue, in every sector, and through every reform. Our success is built on strong domestic ownership, clear and ambitious objectives, and sustained support and understanding from the EU and its Member States.

• Joining the European Union has never been easy. Today, however, the process is more demanding and more complex than ever. It is therefore essential to maintain the pace of reforms, sustain momentum in the negotiations, and ensure continuous engagement at every level.
Time is of the essence, for both candidates and the credibility of the process and the EU.

• We are fully aware of the areas where further efforts are required, particularly as it concerns the further strengthening of the rule of law, but also in sectors such as waste and wastewater management, air quality, and environmental infrastructure and food security. These challenges require strong coordination, long-term commitment, and substantial investment.

• The accession process needs all the energy it can get, both at home and from our European partners. Our cooperation should become more operational, more targeted, and more sustained.

• As we have emphasised before, finding practical ways to associate Albanian experts, as closely and as frequently as possible, with the Commission’s and EU structures and working processes would allow us to benefit from invaluable expertise while further strengthening our administrative capacity and, importantly, deepening familiarity with the way EU institutions operate. This would help make the accession process a genuine accelerator of administrative transformation.

• #Albania has entered a decisive phase of the accession process.
Our ambition is clear, our working plans are realisic, and our resolve ironclad.
We will continue to deliver, and we expect the same commitment from the European Union.

The political momentum for #enlargement needs no advocacy.

The key words remain the same: delivery on reforms by the candidates, and due recognition of progress by the Member States.
