@musharbash_b@mattyglesias@superwuster And get up on the bully pulpit. Political leaders can use the microphone to bash prices they dislike. Backlash has driven many stadiums to introduce "value meals". It should be noted that the stadiums often "pay" for lower margin meals by adding more luxury options.
@musharbash_b@mattyglesias@superwuster We know because schools provide a clear breakdown like the one @mattyglesias posted and because everyone loves to complain about the price of beer. I think we have every reason to believe that Columbia, and other schools, would raise tuition
@musharbash_b@mattyglesias@superwuster I think the best way to address prices that we do not like is by convincing the consumer they should not pay them. You do that not with price caps, but by providing alternatives. Yankee stadium has great spots to grab a beverage before the game. Increase the supply of those!
@DarthVrandon@Noahpinion (2/2) what’s really interesting is that abolitionist argued at the time that slavery was not good for the southern economy and slave owners claimed it was crucial. Modern progressives tend to adopt the latter stance
@DarthVrandon@Noahpinion (1/2) Economists feel strongly that slavery negatively affected long term economic growth in the south as a result of low investment in public goods. Areas of the south are still less productive than comparable northern areas as a result.
@Meximattrides@Castellani2014 Ball knowers watch the tape and see 5 star Donovan Jackson get his lunch eaten by 3 star Kris Jenkins because Ohio is soft and Michigan develops ball players #smash #15-0
@RaiseTheTrident @grcolombini And so strange that he can’t comprehend the advantage hitters and coaches get from seeing pitchers during the regular season. Blue Jays had something on the Yankees all year the playoff season wasn’t exactly an outlier
